Howdy Rich,
Sure can't disagree with what you have to say. There is a distinct advantage to having att the material in one book, though.
I think were I to want to use the material at the gaming table then I would heartily agree. I just tend to look this sort of stuff up between games, so referencing other material is, for me, not too much of a problem. That's one of the reasons I thought the book was really good for less experienced DMs - they are more likely to want information like this on the fly.
As for online material, I for one just hate it. I'd rather have it in printed form. Guess I'm old-school![]()
As old school as they get, Gary!

What I was thinking is that TLG could add a couple of essays and examples of using the material in a camapign as an online supplement to the book, to help users.
Though I confess, when I find a really useful online source I tend to cut-and-paste it into a document for permanent reference.
There is an exception. I much prefer to compose material in an electronic file that working with paper and pencil--or typewriter. Haven't toughed a typewriter in a decade.
Cheers,
Gary
I tried using my mother's typewriter a couple of years ago - I just can't get over how much easier a wordprocessor is! (Though can I persuade her of that fact?

Yes, for major documents I compose entirely on the computer these days using Word and Excel to help put ideas together. The only time I do still like to use pen-and-paper is when I am brainstorming. I still can't beat the ability to scribble little ideas in bubbles and spider-diagram them together*! All my best plots have evolved that way!

* a friend just got a new Tablet PC and I realise that I can do what I want on a computer now. Now all I need is the £1500 for the machine!
