D&D 4E Is it just me, or do damaging effects suck in 4E?

Honestly, I think they statted the Wizard up taking into consideration the Archmage Epic Destiny, which lets you renew powers like crazy, and ultimately use a Daily spell as an Encounter spell.

I'd be inclined to agree, actually. Even in its Paragon Paths, the Wizard has abilities that let it recur powers pretty easily.

Unfortunately, you only have to get him down to 450 HP and then you can just use Intimidate.

So how long is this misquoting of ruletext going to show up as random 4E bashing? Anyone want to start a pool? I mean, this IS the internet, so things that are over a week old are effectively ancient, but by the same token, this is people arguing about D&D, so it could stick around for years....

Since the 4e designers quashed the ridiculous "bag of rats" (non)issue with a blurb in the DMG, they have to find a new "issue" to seize upon.

Its like they hope to find the *one* penultimate broken issue that causes us all to smack our foreheads and suddenly change our minds and believe that 4e is really awful after all.

Or, it's actually a stupid rule.

This isn't Scientology. It's a game. I'm allowed to criticize an aspect of it I find problematic. If I have to artificially inflate a DC every encounter so I can do an end run around Johnny MegaSkill then I have some grounds for complaint.

But then I forgot. Even though I have the books on pre-order, even though I actually defend it to people and suggest that it's worthwhile to give the game a chance, if I dare to criticize one single thing about the game I'm a hater.

Try growing some perspective, people.

Relax, folks. If you're getting testy - on either side - then go outside and sit in the sun for a while. There's no need to be rude to other people.

That sound more like the problem of players gaining XP for their enemies' benefit rather than their own.

Sun? Sun!!!! No, we hates it, the bright, burning thing. It burns us and blinds us, precious.

Have you seen the Sun lately? With its at-will sunburn attack against my fair skin? I preferred the 3.5 version; at least it has range reduced by diagonals.

:D

I didn't say you were a "hater", but my apologies.

Its like the boy who cried wolf. I've heard so many ridiculous and irrational complaints about 4e over the past few months that when a concern is brought up that may have some merit, I'm already deeply skeptical.

The way you criticized it was flippant and rude, and you're surprised at the response you got?

I'm aware of your perspective Korgoth, and in the past you've expressed your positions (both support and discontent) in a much more cogent and amicable fashion. However, when you choose to bring snark into it, well, there's really other way to answer snark but with snark.

Its come in and out no less than ten times today once while I was in the process of walking outside. I think its taunting me.
