Is it just me...

I'm not concerned in the least... this isnt being put out by a company run out of a home office. It may not be perfect, but no RPG release ever is.

I don't think any RPG has ever been playtested as heavily as its creators would like, unless its creators have very low standards. But unless one of us runs an RPG publishing company of significant size, I don't think it's all that reasonable to be second-guessing WotC's business decisions like this. It's not like they haven't done this before; why do you think they don't know what they're doing?

Isn't WOTC working on 4E for about almost 2 years now? And they still have like 7 months ahead before the release. Also, the heart of the game is still the same, d20 system, so they are not really making the game from scretch, the plan is just to improve it, to "perfect" it.

Am I wrong or that's a lot of time for this kind of project?

You aren't the only one, but since the admins frown on negative speculation, that's about all I can say.

The admins frown on trolling and personal attacks... negative speculation is not trolling.

Repeating the same negative speculation ad nauseum might be defined as other then just mere negative speculation tho.

In my opinion WoTC's poor initial presentation of 4e will not be reflected in the actual release. I have much more faith in their designers then their marketers ;)

Is it just me, or does it feel to anyone else like WoTC announced 4e kinda prematurely? ... it feels like they are still brain storming the basics.

I'm becomeing a bit concerned frankly.

I've had the same impression for a month or so.

I wonder, also, how much tweaking is based on community feedback. They pay attention to what's said on message boards.
Good lord I hope not. What you get from the totally ignorant can't be dignified with the term "feedback".

Feedback from playtesters, on the other hand -- I do hope they pay attention to that.

The politically correct term is "knowledge impaired" ;)

I'm a bit worried BUT remember that:

1) A playtest version of the rules is already available so they are, in a sense, already finalised.
2) We don't know the full story.
3) Some of the rules changes might be for Core2+.
4) Three months for printing and shipping, one month (?) for layout, still leaves three months for rules rewrites.
