I think there's a little too much duplication of thread topics. In the absence of the mods, perhaps we should be a little cautious in starting new threads on closely related topics?

On the other hand, this is BIG NEWS, and it's entirely appropriate that it is discussed at length. If nothing else, this is payoff for all those many months of "when will 4e be announced?" threads. :)

Not everyone went to GenCon, you know.

A bit later this evening, I'll be doing a merging pass on the General forum.

I selected other, while I do not think it is too early to air your displeasure with their being a new edition, I do think it is too late for a "Stop it" type thing.

It is being announced, today, at a major convention with the release date of intro products in four months and the first, full product in 9 months, so it is simply too late to stop it from happening.

The scale of monies that have been put into this already, especially developer and designer productivity and playtesting, is enough of a commitment for it to hit the shelves.

So, to recap, it is not too early to rant and/or rave about it, but it is definately too late to stop it.

As someone else said, "The cat left the bag at 300,000 miles per hour".

and having kittens all the way

But if all these 4e threads are merged into a single thread to rule all threads it could become the longest thread in ENWorld history in just a few days.
