Is the game broken depending on the way you play/view it?

Do you feel 3.X/Pathfinder is broken or not?


That is so old school...I have never actually seen it.

I am not saying building a pre-2000 charecter would be as involved as post 2000 (though it could be in 2E, depending). But arranging or modifying ability scores, choice of race and class and multi-classing/duel classing, equipment, spell choice (the extent to which and how it is allowed...could be a major one), maybe magic items (lobbying for, making, trading for...), maybe weapon specialization or NWP...

D&D certainly has always had more room for this then say Traveller or many current indie-games
