So when I go to edit or post a message during business hours on ENWorld and it takes 5+ minutes, is it a problem with server load or bandwidth?

It makes me sad that my favorite site is basically unavailable 8 hours out of the day (and it's not in the 8 hours I sleep).

Convenient you ask this, because we'll be posting something to start solving THIS VERY PROBLEM by the end of the week.

To answer your question, it's wholly server load. We're at 95-100% processor utilization at peak hours, with something like 4 MB of RAM left out of 1 Gig. Not good, obviously. But if things go according to plan we'll have a shiny new server 7x more powerful than our current one in place by the time Christmas rolls around.

We were hoping to fund the new server by ad cash flow, but that just isn't going to happen. We're doing a Server Drive instead. We're prepping prize donation and Q&A right now, so keep your eyes peeled.
