Is the PSP I good system for games?

The graphics are excellent for a handheld and now that the system has been out for a while the games are getting much better and more plentiful. GTA, SSX, Burnout & Lumines are good for it with more stuff to come. If the initial price tag doesn't bother you I'd say go for it. If you are looking to spend less money get a DS or wait for a price drop.

One of the things that I'm impressed with is the screen size of the PSP. Most other portables have small screens.

The screen is probably the best reason to buy one and was really the deciding factor for me. I played my friend's for a bit and was sold. The screen clarity and size is beautiful and a must-have for any gadget geek.

I love the PSP's screen size. Nintendo should have put a similar sized screen in the DS and droped the "dual screen" concept. If the screen were big enough, you could still develop a game that splits the screen in half to effectivley have two screens without forcing EVERY game to use the dual screen concept (else use a single, smaller screen the size of the GBA's). It is this quirky design that prevents me from getting a Nintendo DS. Though, I suppose I may buy one later on, when Nintendo releases the "updated" model (like they did with the GBA -> GBA SP and now the "improved" SP with a better screen light)

I have a PSP, and the only game I play on it is Lumines. It's a neat piece of hardware, certainly, but it seems like there aren't many games for it that interest me. Hopefully, that will change.

That describes me exactly. I got mine through one of those freesites though, so it's not like I'm out $250. Still, all I've been playing is various homebrew programs and Lumines, and even then I'd rather turn to Meteos for my puzzle-gaming action.

I've been kinda curious about Liberty City Stories, but I just can't get myself to put down $50 for a portable game. Also kinda interested in the upcoming Loco Roco and Popolocrois games (would be interested in Katamari, but I've heard people say the PSP version has lowsy controls).

I've heard that the analog pad can be hard to use due to the position (Cramps/uncomfortable).

As for a price drop, probably not for at least a year.

Most people I know who have one (all of them actually who I know have one) have modded their PSP and only play Luminous and old NES games on their PSP. Before Luminous it was exclusively used to play NES games by them.
