Is there a way to block threads?

Another option (though far more work than the admins probably want to do; this is pie-in-the-sky here) would be to expand the thread-tag system to include a lot more topics (as in dozens if not hundreds) in some sort of macro-tag micro-tag system and then make it such that each thread would have - or could have added to it by the admins - multiple tags. Ignoring a micro-tag catches just those threads while leaving the rest of the macro-tag available.

So, for example, NuTSR might get its own micro-tag under the WotC and-or TSR macro-tags; and someone could choose to ignore that "NuTSR" tag while still seeing other threads under the WotC and TSR macro-tags. Under each of the D&D-related macro-tags (e.g. "D&D General", "5e2024", etc.) might come micro-tags for "Rules Questions", "Players", "DM Advice", "Edition Conversion", "Design Ideas", etc.; thus someone who isn't interested in edition conversion could ignore that micro-tag and it'd block all threads with that micro-tag regardless of which macro-tag they're under.
This would require rewriting the software, which is not something we are able to do. We use 'off the shelf' software packages. I'm a writer/reporter, not a programmer. :)

Several other XenForo forums I’ve seen have this feature. Is it something that can be enabled, or is that a mod they’ve installed that doesn’t work with EN World’s setup? See below for screenshots from a few of them.

(I’m sometimes surprised by the features various that are enabled or not, so maybe this stuff isn’t as easy to configure as it seems on the outside. Of course, it’s fine regardless whatever people choose to enable or not for their forums since they’re the ones who have to take care of it.)

@kenada - a question: the examples you posted all seem to show the ignore-thread function as being in the thread itself, i.e. you have to enter the thread in order to ignore it. For those (not me) who would rather pre-emptively ignore a type of thread or an entire (sub-)topic without even knowing those threads exist - i.e. have them never show up in their feed due to something like an ignore-threads-with-this-tag function, such as we already have here in a basic form - have you ever noticed or seen a XenForo forum with layered thread tagging such as I proposed a few posts upthread?

That is not native Xenforo functionality.

I haven’t seen anything like that. The only other feature I’ve seen is being able to ignore whole forums. Of course, my sample size is small, so that may not be all there is.
