D&D 3.x Is there an active 3.0 Community somewhere?

Another option is to just use the D&D 3e tag here, and label new threads 3.0. People will be pretty stoked I think. Plus you get the built in mod squad of Umbran, Morrus, and DannyAlcatraz (all of whom will I am sure tell you that being a Mod is HARD WORK)

So why 3.0 over 3.5? This is all before my time in the hobby so I'm not sure what the changes were.
3.0 was superior although it took me years to realize it.

It plays closer to the style of AD&D. The spells have more flavor and it is not a tactical grid nightmare that 3.5 became.

I really wish you could get the 3.0 PDFs. I, stupidly, got rid of most of my 3e books.

Recently picked up all of my 2e and 3e books from my mum's place where they've been stored for a couple of decades. It's been pretty cool reading through the 3e core books, I'm tempted to run it, but then I'm also tempted to run so many other games.

I've been reading the old 3.0 and 3.5 FR lorebooks.

Those are some of the books i found at my mum's, I already had the campaign book with me that I crack into from time to time. They're good books and I'm not sure there was a huge amount of changes from 2e so lore is mostly compatible with 2e lore.

Yeah they mesh very well with 2E.

Reading through the 3.0 players handbook and there were some small changes that may have been easily missed between it and 3.5, like gnomes going from a favoured class of illusionist to bard, which also explains whey the iconic bard became a gnome in 3.5. I'd also forgotten about favoured classes, I think served a similar purpose to class restrictions in 2e, but instead incentivised picking a specific class instead of restricting them.

I've also been so used to bull's strength type spells from the pathfinder crpgs that I'd forgotten that you had to roll for the ability boost instead of getting a flat +4. Pretty sure the flat bonus was a 3.5 thing.

I also sort of like the specialist wizard a little better though I guess there isnt functionally too much difference between 3.0 and 3.5, but restricting your choices of opposing schools (while providing a menu of options) is a bit more interesting to me.
