Is there any knowledge of new FR products in 2004 besides the Player's Guide?

Damn. I should really pay a lot more attention to the schedule. Had NO idea Underdark was coming out next month.

should expect a book on Cormyr/Dales/Sembia area....

WHOO HOO!!!

*does the happy dance*

Finally! First I've heard of this. And best of all, it's a Two-fer, with info on the Dalelands, too (Which I've also got a soft spot for. Not so fond of Sembia, though).

Dont take my word as something solid and cohesive. Remember I've only heard second hand rumors and tidbits.

Arthur

Old Empires is not near the Dalelands its south and south west of Thay

Also dont expect a response from Rich Baker for a while hes on vacation till the week of October 6th

I liked Unappoarchable East as that area hasn't been covered too m8uch outside of FR6 and the boxed set but I'd really have to control the urge to hurl if Cormyr or the Dalelands get updated before say Sembia, the area that's never gotten a lot of detail, but now has a lot of novels behind it, or say that whole regiion with Zhentil Keep, Hillsfar, Grey Waste, etc...

Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if those two areas got updated first.

As much as developers, as fans, would LOVE to put out Al Quadim and Kara-Tur books..its not gonna happen.

I'm not a fan (of either of those), and really don't consider any of those wastes of print having anything to do with the Realms. So may I just say, "Thank GOD!" IMHO.

(In fact If memory serves Old Empires is just north of the Dales, thus all 4 might be in the same book. Cant be sure.)

No, the Old Empires consists of the Egyptian area and the Babylonian area (sorry, can't remember the names...). That's the southeast corner of the map, just below Thay.

The area above the Dales is the Bloodstone area. (Thar and so on.)

It seems that the Dalelands, and to a lesser extend Cormyr, are caught in a cycle. They have the most published information on them, so more people play there, which causes more demand for info/updating since it's the most popular area, which causes more people to base their campaigns there...

I'd much rather see a book on the Cold Lands (Vaasa, Damara and Narfell) or the Lands of Intrigue (Calimshan/Amn/Tethyr). For that reason I thought Unapproachable East was great, as it detailed an interesting area that didn't already have a lot of print dedicated to it. Well, the Star Elves were a bit of a let down. What the Forgotten Realms does not need is yet another type of elf, but I digress...

You can say that again. It's my (current) biggest complaint about FR - the constant regurgitation is astounding.

I'd like to see books on Nimbral, Lantan, Tashalar, Lapaliiya, Border Kingdoms, and the Shaar (ie. regions that have been untouched by published FR books). Secondary would be much of the South (noteably Halruaa, Dambrath, Luiren, and Durpar & vicinity) and the Old Empires. I have great hopes for the Serpent Kingdoms (Tashalar and Mhair? Please!) and think this is a good direction for FR to go.

After all that, I'd be fine with regurgitation of the North.

(Now, I know that this isn't going to happen, because of the vicious cycle that Pseudonym mentioned above. But I like to hope.)

I also would like to note that I was quite happy with Unapproachable East. It included detailing the Great Dale and Thesk (previously untouched!). Woo!

I was hoping for a bit more of a glimse into Kara-Tur with Unapproachable East, but the info was nice, nevertheless (esp. the spirit folk info).

However, despite the fact that Kara-Tur, Al-Qadim, & Maztica probably don't have much hope publishing-wise, it'd be nice to see these settings get the 3.5 treatment via a Dungeon/Polyhedron mini-game. At least the basic info (new classes & races, modifications to existing info, etc.) could be presented in this format instead.

At the least, it could be 1 article per setting, covering the bases. At the most, it could be a series of articles, each one focusing on a particular aspect (races, classes, monsters, items, etc.).
