Is there ANY way for a PC to gain the Regenerate ability?

Green Knight

First Post
I'm still obsessed with the thought of playing a Green Knight like character in an RPG. Or at the very least, creating such a character in an RPG world (Doubt I'd ever be able to play such a character, as he'd undoubtedly be hopelessly cheesy. Still, I'd like to at least create the NPC for possible later use, while still staying within the bounds of the rules). However, I have yet to spot a way for a character to be built who has the Regenerate ability. So any suggestions? May've missed something from other books which I don't own, so I thought I'd ask, here, to see if anyone more knowledgeable than I would know where I can find a way to give a PC/Human type the Regenerate ability. Thanks for the help.

I rather imagine that a Wish would do the trick; at least, it worked for one of my PCs.

Does regeneration let you surviv decapatiation, now?

Dammit.

As an NPC, you aren't really bound by "the rules". An NPC can be given any traits you like, rules or no rules. You are on your honor to give the NPC an appropriate Challenge Rating, and to give appropriate XP for dealing with him. That's all. Feel free to break the rules with NPCs, so long as you note how difficult you're making them and offer the proper reward.

I don't think the rules don't give an easy, obvious way to give a PC such an ability, and probably for good reason. It'd be better than 3e Haste, an ability that nobody in their right mind would pass up having unless there was some deep and serious drawback to it.

well.. if you head is chopped off...you would probably stay dead.. cause the ring of regen is on your finger not you head... so.. what you need is a nice earring of regen... so if you head is chopped of it will regrow your body.. then you need to do something like an auto-soul jar or some such for you soul.

See I think Trolls are evil/angry because their soul is tied to them on a molecular level and having even a bit of your soul linked body hurt would cause excrutiating pain on a metaphysical level.

how's that for a 30 sec not particularily well thought out response????

I would make it a prestige class but would think about armor as having the regeneration attached to it. The armor could be the gift of the god and gives the DM a loop hole to take it away if too powerful.

I suppose I have to ask, what kind of Regeneratiom are you asking for?
If you want troll-like regeneration then there is a spell in Magic of Faerun called (wait for it) Monstrous Regeneration. Put that spell into a ring or armor.

If you want the ability of the Green Knight (nothing kills you including loosing your head) you need to make up a new Extraordinary ability. Call it True Immortality (nothing kills you). Perhaps rather than an extraordinary ability make it a new template/type. It would have several characteristics similar to Undead, Construsts and Plants. Immune to death by massive damage, etc.

Savage Species, play a troll, use magic to look human.
