D&D 5E Is there too much gold/reward?

I typically give out more gold than the book suggests, but far less magical items. If players are going to junk a magic item they either can't understand, don't need or don't want, I don't bother to include it. I don't mind selling minor magical gizmos (usually custom things with no real use, but are fun to spruce up a character conceptually) but I won't sell magic items. I tend to lean towards providing opportunities to buy land and other services in my world. Once you start factoring upkeep costs it's a great way to dump money into something.
