Yeah, I meant paragon-like, in terms of how it would work, and satyr-light for sure. Otherwise, as you say, that's a lot of levels.
Still haven't heard back from the OP, so I'm not sure whether to go into specifics - even the idea might be totally repulsive or something. :\
Some people like racial levels, some don't. IMC there's 3 pc's with racial levels: 1/2 dragon, centaur and 1/2 djinn and when i started talking about the next one i've already had a proposal for a nymph PC.... not the easiest one to balance :-(
one thing i do is ease the restrictions on racial levels. instead of forcing you to take all the racial levels first, I allow mixing as long as racial >= 1/2 ECL. I think that makes a huge difference to the playability as you can startcustomising the character from level 2 onwards...... so far it hasn't proved unbalanced but then no-one's really tried to break it (yet)
I do like the idea of a PC satyr so i'm watching this thread with interest ....
