My players will (soon) be angering the Spider Queen and I needed a specialized Drow Assassin. Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on Dragon#268 so I came up with my own. The point here is I'm not trying to kill my players outright so efficiency isn't really a concern, rather that the class is well balanced so I can show my players after the carnage what they were up against
The Blades of Lolth are specialized infiltrators/assassins that are specially trained by Lolth herself for use against surface targets. Because Drow skilled in magic tend to rely on spells rather than their own skills, Blades are not trained spellcasters, though wizards or sorcerers are not banned from becoming one.
Blades of Lolth
Requirements: Drow female, evil alignment only, Disguise 6 ranks, Stealthy feat.
Armor and weapon proficiencies as assassin, adding the hand crossbow.
Level based abilities:
1. Bonus Feat: Daylight Adaptation, Poison Use (as Assassin), Sneak Attack + 1d6
2. Spell-like ability: Spider Climb 3 times/day, Uncanny Dodge (AC Bonus)
3. Sneak Attack + 2d6
4. Bonus Feat: Blind-fight, Spell-like ability: Invisibility 1 time/day
5. Sneak Attack +3d6, Uncanny Dodge (Can't be flanked)
6. Permanent Non-Detection (as the spell)
7. Sneak Attack +4d6
8. Change Self, at will (similar to A Thousand Faces)
9. Sneak Attack +5d6
10. Uncanny Dodge (+1 vs Traps), Spell-like ability: Mislead 1 time/day.
Basically I took away the assassin death strike, poison saves and spells and added the feats and spell-like abilities. Thoughts and suggestions welcomed.
