I really prefer the first to the second map, personally.

I think the first map is clear, clean and usable. Thumbs up! :)

The second map isn't nearly as usable or pleasant to my eyes. The textures aren't really meshing well together, and I can't get what they're supposed to represent without a legend, and reading the red on really dark green hurts my eyes.

Hand drew them one at a time in MS Paint

The second map got messed up when I saved it as a Jpeg so that I could get onto the site

Thank you for your comments.

Good drawing! I knew you couldnt cut-n-paste in MS paint. it would come out right. I use paint shop pro for most of my maps.

Thank you Jurgen, I like Inkscape, all though I think that while the MS paint is more of a headache for some things I will use it until I buy something like Fractal Mapper 7.0

Well, to be honest I can't think of any way in which MS Paint is superior to GIMP. Have you tried that program as well?

The ability to use layers alone is worth it.
