Is this gaming product too offensive or merely funny?

I thought it was funny, in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. If there was anything offensive there, it was SO minor that I didn't bat an eye, and neither did my wife. It's not worth purchasing, but that's just because it's useless in a real game.

To answer one question above, I have read the web enhancement but not the book of which it is a web enhancement.

I was curious what the reaction would be if there had been a "Slayers guide to racial types" that then had a web enhancement including the prestige class "The Jew", with class abilities like "steal your money" and "member of cabal that runs the banks". I personally would object to that, and I have a problem with the prestige classes (the third might provide the closest parallel) in the web enhancement to "Slayer's Guide to Women" for about the same reasons. Is there a difference that I am missing? Or am I also too thin-skinned about "The Jew" prestige class idea?

If they brought it out on april fools like they did this one with a similar warning, then yes not only would you be too thin skinned, but you would be the bad guy for writing nasty letters that could cost that family a paycheck. Whether you like the work or not, trying to take food out of the mouths of that writers kids because you cant take a joke is wrong. Your angry letters affect more then the writer and its selfish to attack a families income just because you got a hair up your butt and walk around looking for something to get offended over.

People should quit taking themselves so seriously and endeavor to recall what it's like to really laugh -- deep down in your belly, laugh -- at all the ridiculous crap we get so worked up about. It is patently obvious that the attempt here was a bit of satire, nothing more or less.

The world is becoming a place where people are so sensitive about their flaws ,and the stereotypes we all represent in one way or another, that we may all soon be better off as shut-ins.

I guess I have a different standard on what counts as too offensive than others on this thread. So be it. I hardly think of myself as a bad person for voting with my dollar, nor for starting a thread to see what others' opinions are. Frankly, (and as I said on other threads) I think that this was offensive enough that I don't care if the company goes out of business -- I doubt I have that kind of power, but if I do, then maybe they will do something less offensive (imho, of course) with their next jobs or projects.

I think sometimes you just have to slow down and try not to reduce the world to the lowest common denominator. Things shouldn't always be taylored for the absolutly most sensitive and politicly correct among us, and there will almost always be some things that offends somebody. So as far as this goes no I didn't take any offense to it.
