Is Wizards' team also reading this?

We're definitely paying attention to the feedback here, the wizards community, other fansites/forums, blogs, twitter, facebook, google+, and more. It is interesting how different social groups are responding differently, but not really surprising :)

While we are looking at feedback everywhere and working it down to all the concentrated kernels that i can pass up to the rest of the company, those surveys are really one of the best feedback loops we have. So please, please, please make sure you've signed up for the playtest through the webpage so we can send out those surveys directly to you!

Thanks Trevor, this is MOST appreciated! :D

Interesting.

Overall, the reaction here has been very much positive (though some people have a problem with at-will auto-damage, for some reason).

This isn't universal?

You can write and share thoughts on your playtest experience as long as you're not quoting the text or hosting up portions of the entirety of the playtest packet.

So if you wanted to talk about a creature for example, you could name it, say that it had a cool power that moved people around or something like that, but you wouldn't want to quote the power verbatim. You could then talk about the tactics you guys used in the fight against the monster, talking about the spells/abilities you used and generally what they did, but again, don't get so specific you're describing the mechanics straight out of the packet.

Make sense?

Thanks Trevor. I am fairly certain I am in compliance. Should you find time and feel so inclined please stop by my blog and have a read. If anything needs censoring let me know and I shall take care of it asap.
Link to blog in sig.

Mearls gave me XP once that said I should be writing L&L columns!

But so far, all of my ranting screeds about gender-based ability score penalties and how THAC0 is an essential part of the game that it is impossible to be successful without, have gone unheeded. :(

My thoughts, too. This place can get pretty heated (see 5 years ago), but aside from some nitpicky details, reports here have been mostly positive, and despite WotC's MB rep, I'd have thought it would be looking generally positive elsewhere, too. Too bad, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I think the Be a Jerk on the Internet game is becoming pretty popular. :)

I took a quick look at RPG net.

Its more mixed.

Clearly, there are (different) things that pathfinder or 4E fans might be looking for and aren't there, yet. But I expect to see extensive player build options and more tactical and maneuver options at some point. (and healing and the at will auto damage probably do have to be tweaked).

This probably won't satisfy all of them...but maybe enough. Hypothetically at least.

Yeah, Different sites seem to have different views on it. the WotC site is probably among the most negative of the serious sites. Even so, there's a lot of positive views on it, there just drowned out by a few really unhappy posters.

Overall I think the balance tends towards positive views so far.

Even here, posts lean positive, but the onsight polls tend to be very positive.

The nature of the interwebs I suppose.

So we have proof that they're reading these forums and, contrary to OP, I've found the general reaction to be positive in many forums. Where I have some concerns is in the fact that the vast majority of the community is not active in *any* forum. How is DNDn going to get their feedback to make sure that it resonates with the majority of the community such that we don't have to have another edition in 5ish years?
