Spoilers for AGU-
[sblock]
Yeah, you guys should have heard or seen them and had a chance to get the drawbridge up, probably. If they can't get in that way, they spend like 10 minutes trying to get in, finally finding that they can swim across the river and enter at the point where the bridge goes to the keep. Possibly even giving enough time to put up some barricades or pick them off from the guard towers. [/sblock]

Well, we didnt detect the orcs as we were sleeping in the ruined inn. In any case a party of 5 level 2 characters have no hope of taking on 20+ orcs out in the open. In a defensive position, maybe (and that is a big maybe).

I was DMing my group through this about 2 weeks ago. They were resting in the keep when the orcs arrived, and they had left the drawbridge down so the orcs just walked right in. I did not bring in the elves, nor was I going to because that seemed like such a cheesy part of the encounter.

"Hey! I know we just showed up out of the blue at the right time, and now that we saved you, we're leaving just like that!"

However, the party did well using the keep as a defensible position and beat back all of the orcs. Then again, my players are old school players, so they are frequent users of things like flaming oil and using the environment to their advantage rather than rely on spells for things like damage and crowd control.

Honestly, I'd strongly recommend learning to communicate your thoughts more clearly. Your original post was nearly incomprehensible to me, and for that I feel fortunate, because apparently there were spoilers lurking within.

Though to address your primary complaint: Yes, your DM is right. One attack of opportunity. If he allowed more he would just be doing it wrong.
