I personally love the look of this map. Maybe it is nolstalgia. Reminded me of Greyhawk all the way. I still remember just staring at those two maps for hours, checking out all the cool names. Anyway, it gets my vote as cool. Big Fish Lake does sound pretty lame, though, honestly. You can give a landform a cool name while describing what's in it. Serpent's Coil Lake would be passable if you're not into making up names. I used a bit of both made up names and descriptive names on the Azieran map for Heathen Oracle. Say, Waspwood and Diamond Dust Hills for descriptive, and Lake Vymeer or Sea of Gosseth Marn for made up names. Nothing new, but you have to be careful not to mine the mundane (Big Fish Lake), or it does detract from the whole map experience. I'm not saying that it's out of the range of possibility, residents could easily be simple people and give the lake a simple name, but since it's fantasy, you're looking to impress the reader, so maybe the one guy in this simple town with a little imagination names the lake, eh? Makes for a better map.
