Item affinity slot definitions

I have a few questions on exactly what is covered in the item affinity slots:

#1: "Physical improvement" covers what? Str and Con and also Dex? What about Chr?

#2: "Mental Improvement" covers what? Int and Wis. What about Chr?

#3: "Interaction" covers skills like gather info. What about Chr?

#4: "Class ability improvement" covers what?

I'd say no to Charisma. Physical appearance is but one attribute out of many for Charisma. Not enough to warrant "pysical improvement", IMO. The only exception I can think of is a bonus based purely upon a physical improvement, such as a bonus to Charisma checks and/or skills involving only individuals that might be attracted to you.

Definately include Charisma in this. For an exception, see above.

I'd definately say yes.

EDIT: After reading CRGreathouse's reply, I just noticed I misread the original post, so I figured I'd clarify. I meant to say "yes" to any Charisma-based skills, but not to Charisma itself.

I would assume anything that improves your class ability(s). I.E., not a bonus to Intelligence, which would increases a wizard's save DCs, but a direct bonus to save DCs.

I think there's at least a little breathing room for these.

1. Str, Dex, Con
2. Int, Wis, Cha
3. I wouldn't include bonuses to Charisma, but that's my opinion.
4. Bonuses to turn undead, additional rages, better/more wildshape, etc. Any special class ability improved by the item is valid here.

The two items of most interest is the "resistance" items which there is at least a cloak and the Chr booster items of which there is at least a cloak.

If it only the cloak can be used for each then the Sorcerer gets screwed (and maybe the Cleric). Where as you can boost your Dex (gloves), Str (belt), Con (shirt), INT (headband), AND WIS (periapt) plus get the cloak of resistance which covers everyone else.

Also, what the heck does the Robe cover? Maybe that can be used as a Chr booster?

Huh?

I don't see why not. Actually, anything that could be considered awe-inspiring when looked upon could be placed just about anywhere. For example, take a magic item that grants a bonus to Intimidate checks. Perhaps it bears an image that is discomforting to those that look at it. Such a thing could go just about anywhere, such as the chest (shirt, armor), neck or head (necklace, helm, headband), bracers, gloves, boots, etc.

I think the only core item of resistance is the cloak. Boosting your saves is a must do thing so all players are nuts not to buy/get cloaks of resistance.

So what items can you make as a Chr booster? Is it also only the cloak?

Is the cloak item slot the only one that can be made into a "resistance" item?

Does a Sorcerer who wants to get a Chr boost item and a "resistance" boost item have to chose between the two (or pay the extra charge)?

Whatever kind feels appropriate. Would I allow Boots of Charisma +6? Not a chance. Would I allow a Cloak of Charisma? Sure. A headband? Why not. An amulet, brooch, or other piece of jewelry? Sure.

IMO, I don't see why it would. I'd probably allow a belt, ring, or amulet as well, possibly more if I gave it more thought.

Depends on the DM.

For wondrous items, any slot that ties to "protection" can be made into an item of resistance with no price hike. That includes at least cloak and amulet, perhaps more.

You can also make any slot into any item, but it'll cost more if the affinities are ignored.
