I was thinking more of normal lighting, light a brightly lit room. The stat block only mentions sundlight and daylight.

That is because the only form of light in D&D that can emulate modern day lighting conditions is the Daylight spell. The two weaker light spells Light and Continual Flame both produce the same light as a torch. While the more powerful light spells all deal damage.

Makes sense?

Being a bit of an expert, I must say some things...

The bat one turned to stone, and Ironicly the only one did this on a church/gothic roof, You missed out the electric one, geniuses are far more intelligent and I think you can add the fact that Mogwai wil not eat after midnight, and are inteleigent them selves.

Oh and they were tiny, at the most.

Having seen Gremlins 1 and 2 at least ten time each I can devulge the following:

The Bat Gremlin did not turn to stone, it was covered in cement, there is a differenece.

I did not include the electric gremlin, because I didn't feel like it.

The Genious Gremlin's int score says 13+, the means that 13 is the minimum in score, the average int score would be 18, which qualifies as 'genious'.

Most mogwai (the bad ones) will eat after midnight, these mogwai then metamorphose to gremlins. Also I never mentioned Mogwai's intelligence.

Only the Mogwai is tiny, gremlins have an average height of 2' to 3' which by the height definitions in the MM makes them small.

I had never though of the bad ones being Mogwai, always something else.

One the size issue: Maybe thats why they like Snow white and the seven dwarves?
