Yikes, your Majesty!

You ought to hear this:
http://wowseriousbusiness.ytmnd.com/ "you stole my Cloudsong" - not exactly a roleplaying game thing but very close. (I guess I should warn that this is a very harsh soundclip of a DAOC player going psycho over something that happened in-game).

*chuckles* THAT is hilarious (if vulgar)! However - I can say that The Universe and I have each yelled at each other a time or two about something World of Warcraft related. "I can't believe you leveled without me!!!" or "You *SOLD* THAT?! I needed that!!"

((sorry for the slight diversion in topic... back to your regularly schedule posting ;) ))

Voted #1. Between Gaming (Largely D&D related), Star Trek, and Superman, you have all of me there is. There's no more to my personality or interests than genre stuff.

I gave it a 4. For me it's a hobby, my primary creative outlet, and the equivalent of a gym for me to exercise mentally whenever I want.
Couldn't have said it better myself! Though I'm still going to try :p

I went with 4. D&D isn't "just a game" to me, and it doesn't replace the real world like certain family members would like to say. What d20 does is allow me a blank canvus upon which I actually have artistic talent–a chance to get all these ideas and personalities out of my head and into some sort of use. In a very literal sense, d20 (and especially D&D) keeps me from going crazy in a lifestyle that otherwise allows for absolutely no creative outlet whatsoever.

I voted 3 - a dedicated and important part of my life. Whenever I'm not doing real-life stuff or feel like my other hobbies (You know, Fiance, swordsmanship, all that sort of non-important stuff) I'm thinking about RPGs, buying RPGs (Eh. hundreds of hard-earned cashola) or whatever. I might be between a 3 and 4.

I must admit sometimes the hobby draws me in too much. Thats bad. I often take some time off to get real life happening again.

I have a rather overactive imagination. It's somewhat unfortunate for real life.

Hmm ... I don't think I voted right ...

I put a 3, but honestly it's probably a 4. It would be higher, but I can't say that roleplaying is my life. However, storytelling IS. It always has been. Theater, round-robins, comics, writing, roleplaying.

Roleplaying is an outlet from stress I gather up during the week and I feel anxious without it. However, I think I'd feel far, far worse if I just couldn't do anything creative.

But regardless, I met my best friends through roleplaying, the man I plan to marry, I've been published in the industry, been to conventions to find work, and I feel happy when I get that creative outlet once a week. It's a bit more than a game, in fact it's a few steps away from being something that defines me, but it's not the roleplaying itself, it's what involved in the roleplaying: the friendships and the storytelling.

The weekly game is a regular pastime for me. I am flexible as to what game we play (although I strongly prefer RPGs), who runs it, where, when, why & how. I used to get bent when game night got cancelled, but now I just look forward to the next week.

Gaming (RPGs), in general, is a dedicated hobby. I read about it. I think about it. I scour the internet and post on boards... Sometimes, I even paint little hunks of metal and plastic.

what on earth is a cloudsong?
Pretty sure it's a bitchen' weapon or some other magic item. DAoC made my eyes glaze over, but the reaction is in keeping for how people sometimes behave in similar circumstances in EverQuest or World of Warcraft. (Never ME, of course. I'm the soul of level-headedness.)
