We're in the same boat; I've also been debating on a psionics-only campaign.
I have plans for magic to "die" in my campaign world, as my world has evolved to the "Age of Exploration" era and there is an active social group bent on destroying magic in all its forms... except, of course, for those members of the group. In its stead, people will develop "psionics" like an X-Men style sporadic mutation.
At its height, I hope to have the social group realize their folly too late as they lose their ability to cast magic and are overcome by the new power of psionics.
