Jake 2.0

A suffusion of yellow
Jake 2.0 (NSA computer technician gets infused with molecular nanotech and becomes a super hero) started airing on TV here today and whilst switching channels I managed to catch it.

Looks interesting, has potential. But does anyone know how it pans out? is it a good series or does it just get silly?

It has, or perhaps had potential. Last I heard it was on the "we are probably going to cancel this show" list, though I haven't looked it up on tvtome in a few months.

Basically, it is a show about "what if a boy scout was a super hero" show. This eventually causes conflict with the more practical minded NSA leaders.

Throw in some geek romance. Dude who's always had the hots for a chick he knew in college suddenly finds himself more attractive to her. His coworker is also a hot geek chick but is too stupid to realize she's available.

One particular high point in show is the 6 Million Dollar Man guest starring.

How it ultimately pans out we may never know, but basically in the last few eps he gets cocky and starts disobeying orders. I was waiting for them to put him in his place.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this. Too bad it was cancelled. IIRC, an episode of America's Top New Model got better ratings than Jake 2.0, so the network decided to axe it. Another reality show screwing up the sci-fi shows.

I rather enjoyed the show when it first started. However it eventually went down the path of 'evil government conspiracy' which is de regeur for any show about the intelligence community. At that point I dropped it like a rotten fish. Then again, so did the network.

I read on another board that some of the unaired episodes were being aired overseas in England. If so, lucky bastiges! I liked the show and was hoping UPN would give it at least a full season. But, then again, this is UPN so, what was I thinking?

Whereas I liked that particular plot arc - oh well, to each his own. :) I agree that this was a decent show with real potential, but the economics worked against it.

Other than SG-1 and SGA, I'm not sure what I'm going to watch next season...
