I mean, of course he is. Even if he's never seen a Bond movie, his agent and Amazon will ensure that the announcement makes him look like the biggest 007 fan ever. Standard Operating Procedure.

Whoever is cast as Bond will also be a big fan of the movies and have great respect for all of the actors who came before.

ChatGPT could write these press releases. Heh, probably it did!

So, more seriously... hmmm. He's Canadian, and I'd hoped for at least the first film Amazon would play it safe and go all British. I was hoping for Nolan, honestly. And I find the Dune movies tedious beyond belief. And Blade Runner 20whatever was hard work for me too. But they did very well at the cinema, so I get that I'm not in the majority there.

Fingers crossed.

I mean, obviously, and obviously.

Villeneuve will have Carte Blanche. He is pulling a lot of weight these days. We had a very physical Bond with Daniel Craig. Maybe, Villeuneuve's Bond will be colder and calculating like Timothy Dalton's. It would fit his cinematographic style.

Strange choice. The Bond franchise is in serious need of a revamp, though, so maybe this is what it needs to get with the 21st century, at least in terms of gender dynamics. I'm not that huge a Villeneuve fan, TBH, nor much of a Bond fan, so...shrug.

I think his Thrillers are a better thing to look for how his Bond movies could look like: Sicario, Prisoners, Incendies were are great movies IMO. I really like Villeneuve although I also don't love the Dune movies, his other works are much better IMO. Arrival is one of my favorite scifi movies ever.

But even his thrillers like Sicario are quite different than usual Bond. But it could be a cool new interpretation of Bond, so I am cautiously optimistic.

Carte Blanche would be a great Bond girl name.
In a Sean Connery voice; "I took the liberty with Carte Blanche"
I remember an episode of Father Brown where the bad guy had the last name Chapeaunoir. This too is a Bondish villain name in my opinion.

In the desert, a new threat rises. A young man, barely more than a boy, has declared himself Messiah, and launched a holy war. Only one man can stop him. His name is Bond. James Bond.
