James Marsters to join the cast of Smallville

Oh, please! As a Briton, and one with a particularly keen ear for accents, I can say that Marster's accent in all the episodes I've seen (& heard!) is perfect or very nearly so. Denisoff's, on the other hand, is simply awful. There's almost nothing he says that doesn't sound like a North American trying to do an English accent.
Supposedly, he kept checking with Anthony Head to make sure he was doing it right.

I don't doubt that he checked but no amount of coaching is going to make you perfect if you haven't developed an ear for accents early on. If you haven't got it, you haven't got it, and Denisoff hasn't got it.

I'm British too, so I suppose it is a matter of opinion.

Isn't it also a matter of which British accent? There's more than one, after all. Modern Londoner isn't the same as an old-time cockney, and so on...

Hmm, I seemed to have posted something that was misleading. Oop.

Twas Marsters who checked with Tony Head about his accent, not Denisoff.

Sorry for the confusion.

Marsters is from Santa Barbara, CA, if I recall correctly. The accent was an affectation for the character. If he isn't playing a brit, then there should be no difficulties.

I read somewhere that originally, he used a Southern accent for Spike... glad they didn't go that way. And yes, he got better at the accent by hanging around with and listening to Tony Head.

He'll be shown a bit in the first Episode of SV, but it's not till the third that he has more of a part.

Also, I read somewhere he's supposed to be growing out his hair. That's great, because I think the buzz cut is too severe on him (of course I'm a girl that likes guys with great eyes and good hair.... if there's not enough hair to run my fingers through, I'll probably go somewhere else :D ) and I think it makes him actually look his age.
