James Marsters to join the cast of Smallville

Marsters will never look his age. He's like 40-something now and still looks the same as he did back in 97-98 when he showed up on Buffy. Also I have to check it out 'cause EW says Brainiac is similer to Spike and everyone likes Spike.

He's going to be 43 in August...if what I've read is true. Some places don't mention his DOB or at least most don't list the year, but the last I read makes him 11 years older than me.
:( And don't get me wrong, he still looks great, but most of the new pics I've seen of him are of the new do (where I think I can spot soome gray... which is fine, since I don't mind guys with gray hairs and have a bunch of my own to boot) and a serious look on his face. It just makes him look a bit "closer" to his age, shall we say. :)

Actually, when I first heard the news about SV, I was a bit dissapointed, because I'd like to see him start getting some meatier roles, on TV or in the movies (still haven't seen The Heist from USA... a relative taped it for me though). Plus, after how WB treated Angel (and then put such drek on like The Mountain... which I only watched for James and thought his character was brilliant), that I was surprised he'd be on another of their shows. THEN I realized that he obiviously has to play nice w/ them if he's really willing to do a Spike movie and since WB's the best shot for that happening.

Whatever the case, I'm excited to see more of him. There's so little he's done on film, besides BtVS & AtS, that I've moved my fan "crush" to Vincent D'Onofrio for the time being. I'm seeing alot of movies I otherwise would never have seen (and I think he's great actor too... well, and also good looking...what can I say, this girl's got ecclectic tastes ;) ).

I don't like Spike. He was an interesting Big Bad who would have been fine if they'd let him die at the end of his story arc, as a good Big Bad should. Instead, the writers started coming up with inane plot points to keep him on the show long after he should have shipped out. Spike's "chip" was the point where Buffy jumped the shark for me.

That said, I don't have anything against the actor who played Spike. It'll be interesting to see how he does on Smallville, especially as a character like Brainiac.
