WotC James Wyatt is on the Dungeons & Dragons Team Again

Well, they already did that with SCAG, MoTF, and the UA.

So...I guess thats that.
A non-canonical UA and the MoTF that says that kept them Infernal and alludes to all tieflings ultimately stemming from Asmodeus? I certainly don't mind the much needed expanded infernal sub-lineages that MToF provided.

And SCAG of course, that completely implements what I and anyone looking for the pre-4e is looking for?

Since not all tieflings are of the blood of Asmodeus, some have traits that differ from those in the Player's Handbook.

  • Appearance. Your tiefling might not look like other tieflings.
  • Feral. Your Intelligence score increases by 1, and your Dexterity score increases by 2. This trait replaces the Ability Score Increase trait.
This harms you how?

No. You are one edition out of date. 4e tried to delete non-Asmodeus tieflings.

If failed.

Because removing options, particularly popular ones, is BAD.
Did it, Paul? Because I'm reading about the Mark of Asmodeus in SCAG and MToF double-downs on the infernal lineages of tieflings. So if you have some other evidence, particularly of the textual kind, I'd love to see it.

Because if people didnt complain, there would be assumptions that bad ideas should be left as is, without providing the options people actually want.
Have you not learned yet that your sense of what constitutes "bad ideas" are a matter of opinion and that what you want should not be taken as what "people actually want"?

Literally right there, do I need get you the page number?

I'm aware of it. It's page 118, right below the Mark of Asmodeus section that says they were changed (in Forgotten Realms) to look like their "progenitor" (as the result of a magical ritual), but that others have since been born from other infernal lineages.

Perhaps you didnt finish that section yet.

"Tieflings in Faerun GENERALLY have the racial traits of tieflings in the Players Handbook, EXCEPT that those not descended from Asmodeus might exhibit different qualities: see the 'Tiefling Variants" sidebar.

Page 118, and 119.

So.

1. Not an Asmodeous Monolith anymore.
2. Not all Hellboy/Hellgirl Costumed anymore.

So, yes. An option was provided that directly refutes the 4e version.
