Chapter 1 Greenest in Flames Part 1

Day 1 7 PM to Day 2 4 AM

PC Killed 0 Monsters Killed 29 Villains Captured 3 Villains Escaped 7

Start Time 6:28 End Time 9:39

Take 10 Downtime days. 76 GP.

I had a very strong group of six. Carin Amanger Gloomstalker 3 drow elf. String Bean Rogue 1 Taxbaxi. Nerezza Monk 1 fairy. Nox monk 1 fairy. Violet Life Cleric 4. Luke Fiend Warlock Abyssal Tiefling.

It is a fine spring day of Mirtul when our group gathers in the Green Tea Tavern. They are not happy. The grumpy dwarf owner serves tea and healthy food. He also cuts the beer and waters the wine.

Carin, “This is weak like the sunlight.”

Violet, “Maybe but the horse it came from is very sick.” The strangers chat until the bar closes at nine pm. They slowly make their ways to their rooms.

Nerezza is awaken by something around midnight. He wipes a tear from his face. Was that platinum? As he comes to the floor collapses under him, he comes fully awake on the ground floor. A sheriff is trapped behind a beam. A fire has started at the bar. A huge storm can be heard outside but no rain. Violet, Luke, and String Bean try to lift the beam. Sherriff Andy screams, “You, cleric who you serve. It doesn’t matter. I deputize you for Greenest.” She feels a tear in her eye. She also notices the side beam is in the middle of his guts. The fairies start putting out the fire as the drow tumbles threw the wreckage of second floor.

Carin, “Spare the Dying”

DM, “What does it take to kill an npc. Hmm six on a d6.”

String Bean scream, “DRAGON!” as a lightning bolt takes out one fireplace and part of the wall. The group drags Andy outside and heals him. Andy, “Ok deputies and good people. How about we stop those kobolds from capturing that family and get the to the keep.” The family turns toward the keep and the fight is on. The moon light is a quarter moon provide dim light if there are no fires giving bright light.

Violet charges ahead of the group to protect the family and have the kobolds split toward the group. Daddy is killed before Violet makes contact but she draws off one of enemy. The other kobolds clash with the group. Andy goes down in the second row, “Frak me”. Carin tries to draw off one the enemy from the family who is stabbing Mommy. “naughty word YOU! KOBOLD. Nat 20 on my death save.”, screams Andy.

DM, “When did the NPC get death saves?” Carin and Violet take out the enemy on the family and Carin provides first aid to Daddy. The last kobold falls, and the group falls back to keep. A blue dragon is providing CAP over the town while Kobolds and others are attacking various parts.

Around 1 A.M. the group is sent out to stop the mill from being burned. The enemy has set up an ambush. Group, “Excuse you. Counter Ambush as we made the skill check!” The deputies see the kobolds are just faking fires on the roof of the mill and flank them and attack. A few rounds later the enemy is dead. The smudge pots are put out and the group waits for the relief. The group takes a short rest.

Book, “That will cost you an hour and encounter.”

Carin, “Let me speak to your writers!”

Book, “Fine a short rest.”

Around 2:15 AM they are told to set up an ambush and take prisoners. They set up around 3 on the map. A half dozen cultists approach the area when the ambush goes off. One escapes the Entangle spell briefly before being cut down. The spear throw is cut down. Another escapes the entangle in dashes inside. One tries to escape and is cut down by Carin, Nerezza, and String Bean. They question the cultists.

Cultist, “Red, Blue, Green, Black and White. Tiamat loves me be she told me so. Red, Blue, Green, Black and White. Tiamat loves me be she told me so. Frulam Mondath is the spellcaster in the purple robes. The Cult of the Dragon rules. Non-believers drool. The boss is called Dragon Lady.”

Guard, “I work for loot and we get a bonus if we find dragon eggs. 100 GP. The first two ranks of are dragonclaw and dragonwing.”

McCaffery, “HEY That my IP!”

Cultist, “We are the Cult of the Dragon you demon dogs. Ariel and Ookla will ride to our defense. We are hatching dragon eggs in the camp cave. The camp is to southeast about a day and half away.”

The group grabs a hasty meal and move out to the sanctuary around 3 A.M. (location 3 on the map where the players drew out their ambush. Two forces are trying to get in to the temple of Chauntea. One with a battering ram being led by a dragonclaw. The second is trying to crowbar the windows open on the back side. The group split their forces divided them between the two groups. The entangle spell slows down the ramming force, and half back door force is cut down as they move out to meet the group. Carin, Luke, Pocket skeleton, and Violet whittle down the rammers. With not enough people to operate the ram, the kobolds fade away.

We will pick this up next week at 4 A.M. Please read you character sheet.

DM Note. With Kobolds being dragons now, unless the encounter says differently the species default for NPCs will be Kobolds. So, Cultists, Guards, Noble, etc. I moved the opening scene into the tavern. Sherriff Andy will be your quest giver.

Nox and Nerezza need to buy a 2024 handbook.

We are doing this by tiers currently. So, try not to level out of the chapters. About chapter 6 is when the tiers switch.

I have three seats open if someone wants to drop in.

CARIN! YOU AND YOUR JOKES I JUST READ YOUR NAME. 630 in the morning and you making jokes.

The map on page 10 is hard to read. The numbers blend in with the background.

End of Session 566.

Chapter 1 Greenest in Flames Part 2

Day 2 4 AM to Day 2 538 AM

PC Killed 0 Monsters Killed 41 Villains Captured 3 Villains Escaped 12

Start Time 6:49 End Time 9:02

Take 10 Downtime days. 150 GP. 2 Potions of Healing

I had a very strong group of five. Carin Amanger Gloomstalker 3 drow elf. String Bean Rogue 1 Taxbaxi. Violet Life Cleric 4. Bob #2 Fiend Warlock 3 Abyssal Tiefling. Iam Amanger barbarian 4 Aasimar.

Sherriff Andy, “we have some families trapped in the tunnels to keep. Go make sure let make it to safety.” The escape tunnel is narrow only five to eight feet.

Carin, “How can it be an escape tunnel. We not escaping.” The rescue tunnel has at least two other entrances. As they go single file with the Iam occasionally brushing against the ceiling, they hear rats. One swarm of rats from the left charges the group. The second set from the right tunnel charges the families who have locked themselves in a bolt hole.

The first swarm is chewed up by the party. The second swarm starts chewing up the families. Some of the party dash to the rescue, others prepare to receive more kobolds from the tunnels. The party gets to the second tunnel, String Bean and Violet dash forward to open the gate to bolt hole.

String Bean, “where are my tools. Where are my tools?’

Violet, “in your hand.”

String Bean, “Oh! This lock is rusted shut. But it open.” Meanwhile, kobolds, priest type kobolds, and kobold dogs are being killed by the party. The last priest tries to flee only to be backstabbed by Iam. Some quick healing and organization. The party tries to withdraw to the keep.

DM, “Win condition. NPCs move 20 due old, scared, and being stacked up. 10 gp for each one that makes to keep. Let see if you make out or will have some combat. Everyone roll a d20 no modifiers. I will roll five. If your total beats mine, no combat. 29 vs 31. Combat. Set the first person up 40 feet from the exit.”

More kobolds, priests, and humans enter combat with group. The kobold size tunnel helps the enemy but not the party. Carin is drawn down the right tunnel. Iam is gets near the entrance and waves the first four npcs thru. She falls back struggling to get to the battle. Bob #2 blocks the left. The families are slowly moved out. And the last human dies. It’s quiet. Too quiet!

Iam Amanger, “Carin. Carin. Has anyone seen my spouse?”

Narrator, “During the battle Carin Amanger was taken prisoner.”

5 AM. Nothing.

5:10 AM. Nothing but the predawn light is being to creep into the lands.

5:28 AM. More light enters the scene when a blue half dragon with sixteen plus kobolds, a few kids, and two adult prisoners. One is Carin.

Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, “My friends, you have done well during the night. You took prisoners. We took prisoners. I offer a swap. I will let my kid prisoners go now if you fight me in single battle.”

Ima back flips off the keep wall. “Me, ME. I will”

Sherriff Andy know this is a delaying tactic, as they can see the army withdrawing.

Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, “You champion will fight me.”

Ima, “To the death.”

Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, “You champion will fight me. In a circle of”

Ima, “To the death.”

Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, “You champion will fight me. In a circle of in a choice of their size.”

Ima, “To the death.”

Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, “You champion will fight me. In a circle of in a choice of their size. To a tap out or.”

Ima, “To the death.” She draws a ten-foot circle on the ground in front of the keep. Pushes the half-dragon in. And blows the whistle.

As the first rays of sunrise shine on the keep, one of the combatants falls. It is Ima.

Langdedrosa Cyanwrath, “Medics. Stabilize her. Leave her two potions. And let’s leave this town.”

At full sunrise, the lovers kiss.

We will pick this up at the start of chapter 2. DM note. Thanks, Carin, for letting me down shenanigans.

Chapter 2 Raiders Camp Rescue

Day 3 to Day 5 Morning

PC Killed 0 Monsters Killed 57 Villains Captured 6 Villains Escaped 17

Start Time 6:20 End Time 9:10

Take 10 Downtime days. 296 GP. A Level.

I had a very strong group of seven. String Bean Rogue 2 Taxbaxi. Violet Life Cleric 4. Mike Fiend Warlock 4 Abyssal Tiefling. Zhark bard 1 bugbear. Nerezza Monk 3 fairy. Nox monk 3 fairy. Mugen Druid 3 Human.

Welcome Zhark to town, and Adventure League.

Have worked a triple shift of adventuring of putting out fires, rescuing kids and small farm animals the Greenest Group (GG) is not happy to pulled out bed in the morning.

Nesim Waladra, “I hear that you intend to follow the raiders and see where they’ve gone, I was on deaths saves last night and still have a few levels of exhaustion. I need coffee. What no coffee. “

Nox, “Get to the point quest giver,”

Nesim Waladra, “In the midst of all this tragedy, there’s no reason you would have heard about the fate of my master, Leosin Erlanthar, but it’s important you know. He is a monk from Berdusk. He disappeared last night, after we fought a particularly savage battle against raiders.

Leosin didn’t make it at all. We went back this morning to look for him, but all we found was his broken staff and this choker, which he always wore.

Leosin has been investigating these raiders for months. I fear that he might have tried to infiltrate their group when they retreated, or worse, was captured and carried away as a prisoner. No one understands these bandits better than he does, and his knowledge will be invaluable against them. When you find their camp, please look for any sign that Leosin is there. One of my brothers has already departed for Berdusk to bring back help, but it will be many days before help arrives. Anything you can do before then would be a godsend.”

Sherrif Andy, “The town will page 250 GP each if you find the exact location of the camp and bring back intelligence.”

Zhark, “Does that include Mike if so we being owing you.”

Moving out around ten in the morning they find signs of stragglers. Great sneaky things happen and they see four kobolds burying two of the number in spider traps and some humans and other kobolds laying a quick ambush. This doesn’t last the opening seconds.

Violet calls up to the sneak group about the spider traps as they crush the right flank. As bugbear and fairies start to crush the right flank, we wouldn’t mention the leap from the small cliff to the kobold to the small cliff on the left.

Book, “Poor Kobold” The bait crew crushes all but the spider traps. Mike tries to dagger the second one only to have trap to snap shut on his fingers. Violet rips the first one open and looks in. Nothing. Holding the top of trap aside she pokes the pit with her staff.

Meanwhile, Cockroach the kobold is holding on to top of trap with both hands, both feet, and tail and hopes Violet doesn’t make contact. String Bean starts pawing the kobold.

Violet, “I swore I saw something.”

Cockroach, “See nothing in the trap. These are not the kobolds you are looking for.” He quickly avoids his eyes from seeing Violet.

Mike, “Got a live one here. He is carrying two picture frames and three toilet brushes. I say we kill one of them.”

Toilet Brush, “Hey that not fair we didn’t try to kill you.” He notices the glare from the everyone. “Okay we didn’t try to kill you successfully. I will make you a deal. I tell you about the rearguard and general location of the camp, you don’t kill me.”

Book, “hey they choosing to fight the Rearguard.”

DM, “They a very strong group. Let’s bump up the encounter.”

Book, “Good. I tired of getting my monsters crushed. Swap out the acolyte for priest.”

DM, “Hey I have ran these kobolds in a while.”

Book, “Add a few more they crushed 12 in two rounds.”

DM, “And I just make them AC 14 for all. Hey the priests go third. Okay your stealth rolls allow you to get between number 3 and 4 of the topside kobolds. The bait crew will say action.”

The kobolds are surprised. They are dressed in black and listening to Johnny Cash with the flanks attack the number four.

Priests, “MICROWAVE OF DOOM. HOLY naughty word Spirit Guardians does work on PCS. What my Save DC.”

Beyond, “What is a spell save?”

DM, “Make it 13.” Both Zhark and Nox fail. Zhark goes down.

Kid Kobold, “Halt in the name of …” Violet arrow punches into his chest. Kid kobold, “Aw man I didn’t even get my line out.” Rocks are thrown and some get max double damage.

Left Flank Priest, ““MICROWAVE OF DOOM. HOLY naughty word Spirit Guardians is still working. That two and half PCs on death saves.”

Evil DM LAUGH, “I made at little bit too powerful.”

Book, “Read my wall of small font text. Should be something in there about capturing the party.”

DM, “Who side are you on any way? Yes, it on page 18 not 15.” The captured recuse rangers are captured while the rescue rescue rangers break contact and follow the cultists back to the camp.

About three hours later the prisoner party are being tied next to Leosin. About 300 kobolds and other races are in camp. It is broken up in three levels in a small vale. The guard towers are new but nicely built. The group is places in the second level while the rescue group watches from the top of the cliff.

Nox, “Can my group take a long rest before the rescue?”

Prisoners, “Hey can we get a long rest too.”

Nerezza, “Why do you need a long rest. I wasn’t even touched.”

DM, “Okay top group yes. Prisoners tied to telephone poles short rest.”

The sunsets. The moon rises in the east. The camp is being studied while Nox snores. Around two AM they put the plan in motion. Rat crew of Druid and rat start chewing the ropes of the prisoners. Fairy Air Force flies Violet down to prisoner intaking tent to cast silence. Zhark and String Bean nearly fall to their feet as blood is returned to their limbs. Dragon Doggy and Kobold guard miss this. Silence goes off but dragon doggy barely notices.

Rat team works on the second set of ropes while fairy force returns to cliff to drop off the cleric. The start waking up the captured towns people and moving them out the back of tent to the cliffs. Two people make to cliff, four people make to cliff. All townspeople make to the cliff with no one notices.

Rat team finishes off the ropes and Mike and Leosin don’t fall to their feet. Nox flies out the front of tent and beats down dragon doggy. Nerezza just breaks the guard’s neck. As the prisoner team goes to get their stuff.

Goggles, “Hey where are you prisoners going. Why is their no one on watch?”

Zhark, “Hey it is late. We going for some hot dogs. You want some?” Insert Bard Mind trick.

Goggles, “New York or Chicago dogs?”

Zhark, “Both. You coming?”

Goggles, “Sure.” Moments later he is tied up and taken prisoner.

We will pick this up next week back in town and start chapter 3. What is going happen to Goggles.

DM Note. Does anyone have access to updated Pregens? Goggles knows the rank system and some of the chain of command. I will write that up during the week.

End of session 570.

Random rants. The maps are art not information. The book so far is written as the group will be totally willing to go along with plot line.

Chapter 3 Dragon Hatchery

Day 5 Morning to Day 9 Morning

PC Killed 0 Monsters Killed 70 Villains Captured 6 Villains Escaped 94

Start Time 6:20 End Time 9:10

Take 10 Downtime days. 160 GP. A Level.

I had a very strong group of seven. String Bean Assass3 Taxbaxi. Violet Life Cleric 4. Zhark bard 1 bugbear. Nerezza Monk 4 fairy. Nox monk 4 fairy. Mugen Druid 4 Human. Zip a Dee do dah barbarian 1 gnome.

Welcome to Adventure League Zip.

Oh, the way back to Greenest, they debrief Googles, Cockroach, and toilet brush. This is a camp of the Cult of the Dragon—praise Tiamat’s glory! Not everyone here is a full-fledged member of the cult. Many are new initiates working toward full acceptance, and many others are simple mercenaries, hired to flesh out the camp’s strength during raids or if it should come under attack. The kobolds are here because their worshipful attitude toward dragons. Hunters who bring in antelope and other large game from the grasslands feed the camp.

The cultists and their allies eat most of it, but some is stored in the cave to feed the hatchlings. The cult has been ranging far and wide on small raids to collect treasure. Greenest was the closest target to the camp, the biggest of all the towns they’ve attacked, and the most profitable—praise Tiamat’s glory! Prisoners are used for manual labor. In the past, a few have “converted” and become loyal members of the cult, but most die eventually of overwork and undernourishment. Then they are fed to the drakes or taken into the cave to feed the hatchlings.

The cave at the back of the camp (area 4) is off-limits to all but those who’ve been cleared by Mondath and Rezmir, which includes a handful of guards and kobolds. It’s known around camp as “the nursery,” and it’s an open secret that Rezmir plans to hatch a clutch of dragon eggs there. The half-black dragon Rezmir came to the area a few months ago, and she set up the camp. Mondath handles everyday operations.

The half-blue dragon Cyanwrath is Mondath’s right hand and is seldom far from her side. He has a rigid sense of honor, but you don’t want to make him angry. The mother of dragons—praise Tiamat’s glory—shall return, and when that day comes, all the nations of the world shall tremble before her majesty! The monk is of special interest to Rezmir. Why else would she keep the creature alive that way?

What Rezmir hopes to learn from him is anyone’s guess, but you wouldn’t want to be in that half-elf’s skin—or what’s left of it—when the questioning gets serious. The plunder from nearby settlements is stored in the cave. No one but Rezmir knows how much is there altogether, but it must be a big pile by now.

The Cult of the Dragon has an active recruiting process, accepting initiates from a young age. An initiate trains for months or years before gaining any rank within the organization, and many trainees don’t survive the tests. An initiate who passes the tests must choose an affinity to a particular color of dragon: black, blue, green, red, or white. He or she is then welcomed into the ranks as a dragonclaw.

The higher ranks of the cult, in ascending order, are dragonclaw, dragonwing, Dragonfangs, dragonsoul, and wyrmspeaker. There are only five wyrmspeakers, one per color of chromatic dragon. The current wyrmspeakers are Rezmir (black), and Varram (white). Most of the cult’s operations are overseen by local leaders called Wearers of Purple for the ceremonial robes that they wear. All of the wyrmspeakers are Wearers of Purple, as are lower-ranking cultists appointed by the wyrmspeakers to preside over cult enclaves.

Zhark files adoption papers on Goggles and the group spends the night shopping and partying.

Book, “Hey they buying potions of healing. I looted the town.”

DM, “Adventure League rules. Overridden.”

Leo gives them a quest to explore the caves for 150 GP each. Leosin tells them to find him at the city of Elturel afterward, both to report and to collect their pay. If he has moved on before they reach the city, they can speak to the paladin Ontharr Frume instead.

Around noon they arrive over the campsite. Except for four kobolds, the guard towers, and three tents, the sight is empty. They sneak down the cliff while the kobolds are cooking an antelope.

Zhark, “Inspection Team. We here to make sure you guys are doing your job. You are slacking off.’

Soupspoon, “Rezmir did say jack about no inspection team. We were left behind to finish breaking down. Plus, Rezmir I didn’t know we had bugbears in the cult. Also, he just left at six this morning.”

Zhark, “Secret inspection teams do better work. Look let share your lunch. You fairies take this oil and burn down the towers. Goggles will vouch for us.” Goggles does and the group takes a two-hour lunch break.

Nox and Nerezza, “Hey Soupspoon want to see what we found behind the prisoner tent.” They give a flirt smile and the kobold follows. Weapons are drawn.

Soupspoon, “Curse you with your sudden but inevitable betrayal.” The kobolds draw faster and it doesn’t help. The group spends another two hours combing the remains of the camp. They find nothing of value. At four thirty they enter the caves. The first part of the cave is empty, but since the kobolds did not hear the pass word, they attack in the rear part. Spike growth takes care of two of the guards, and the monks finish off the last two. A quick huddle is called. Zhark, will sneak ahead and call out if there is trouble. He goes down the south west corridor and moves west, he finds a kobold snoring at top of bed of loose gems, copper pieces, and gems. Have a dozen of empty wine bottles surround him. Zhark ends the snoring and loots.

Moving back to the party he takes the second corridor; he brushes aside a curtain and starts to count sleeping bodies. He fills a poke to his right knee and then left knee. He hears Draconic.

Zhark, “Sorry I can’t understand you, I only put common down on my languages slots.”

Guard one, “What are you doing here?’

Guard two, “When did we allow bugbears in the army?”

Zhark, “I am part of the secret inspection team. You guys are slacking.”

Head Guard, “We have no inspection team. Quit backing out into the hallway. Take him alive!”

Zhark, “TROUBLE! DANGER PARTY. What do mean I go last in initiative?” Three kobolds die to spike growth and one dragon doggy die before a temporary halt is called. The head guard and other kobolds are peeking out into the hallway throwing birds at the druid.

Head Guard, “we have your bugbear prisoner druid. We can kill him at any time.”

Mugan, “we have you trapped, and we have more swords and spells than you. We can fatally funnel you all day. Plus, we have a cute little baby red dragon to trade. So do you.”

Frulam Mondath, “Cute baby dragon. Only problem is we only have dragon eggs and a young black dragon in the caves. Plus, we have you flanked. So do you want to surrender, fight, or leave.?” She is dressed in her purple robes and glaives.

Zhark, “Do I get say is my rescue?” A kobold grabs his tongue silently him. The kobold has not washed his hands.

Mugan, “We are a very strong party of seven and have already taken out four or more of your people.”

Frulam, “I see you standing near four bodies and is that Goggles with you. Naughty kobold changing sides.”

Goggles, “Hey they have fresh New York Hot dogs.”

Head Guards, “The druid took out four of us.”

Mugan, “Huddle up guys.” A quick huddle. “What was our mission again?”

DM, “Find out what is in the cave complex, and if the army is still here.”

Frulam, “Yes there are seven of you but I have a young black dragon and over a hundred people to fight you.”

Googles, “Actually Wearer of the Purple, you only have 78 people to help.”

Frulam, “Okay 77 people. Eleven to one odds are not good. You druid you could join us. We could use a human like you. Plus, there is a reward of 100 GP if you bring in a dragon egg.”

Mugan, “Okay. 77 people, 7 dragon eggs, 1 young dragon. We got the information we need. Guys do you want to fight? No. Okay we leave and take back our bugbear.”

Frulam, “No you will leave the bugbear, and Goggles. Scurvy up the cliff walls, and then we release the bugbear.”

Mugan, “Deal.”

Zhark, “No deal without Goggles!”

Frulam, “Fine. We give you Googles as a lovely parting gift.” An hour after they ascend the cliff, Zhark is release with parts of Googles sewed to him.”

DM Notes, take inspiration for totally breaking the chapter.

The group journey back to Greenest and will join a merchant train in the morning.

Chapter 4 On the Road

Day 10 Morning to Day 27 Morning

Day 5 of road trip

PC Killed 0 Monsters Killed 70 Villains Captured 10 Villains Escaped 94

Start Time 6:38 End Time 9:50

Take 10 Downtime days. 180 GP. Report fee, Ship Allowance and Bust fee

I had an average group of five. String Bean Assassin 4 Taxbaxi. Violet Life Cleric 4. Zhark bard 4 bugbear. Mugen Druid 4 Human. Zip a Dee do dah barbarian 3 gnome.

The group just missed Leosin but the monk did leave horses and saddles for them to get the ever day city Elturel. They get about half way when a winged kobold messenger in a brown uniform with the name tape of “Wells F” catches up with them. It is a love letter to Mugen (thanks chat gpt) from Frulam Mondath. He replies, “If we met in Elturel at the inn we will bang. What animal shape do you want?”

Elturel is a large merchant river city which is protected from undead by an eternal “Daylight” spell over the town. The town hardly ever gets dark even in deepest winter. The inn keeper knows of the party and sends them with a link boy to the Order of Gauntlet tavern HQ where they meet Frume a huggee paladin who loves hugging people. Zip is not happy with the hugs and nearly punches the paladin lights out when it is pointed out thirty plate mail drinks against five is not good odds and they need to get paid.

The report is made and they get some cash. The bard pipes for some extra cash and plays Freebird on the bagpipes. During the next morning, they are hit with a recruiting speech from Frume for the Gauntlet and Harold from the Harpers. It is an information gathering mission, due not kill any cult members unless necessary. Frume offers a 50 GP shipping allowance, three free pulls from the equipment list, and membership in the order. Harold (Leosin in book) offers 30 GP ship allowance and 1,200 gp gem if they survive to Waterdeep. They choose Harpers.

3 days later they meet their contact. DM, “Gee a six-day cut scene which should took 5 minutes takes an hour plus.”

Ackyn Selebon, “I am your contact. I got you hired on as base guards to the merchant train. Find out which wagons if any are cult of the dragon. No killing them. We want to know where they are going after Waterdeep. You survive to Waterdeep you will get your award. The big boss is teamster Losvius Longnose.

The wagon train is 18 wagons long and has a gargoyle on wagon 11. Most of the wagons look the same but the boss teamster has chalked numbers on the sides. The teamster gives off a western vibe as she spits tobacco out her cheek.

Losvius Longnose looks down of the party from here two-foot nine inches height. “You will be paid 5 GP a day. IF you survive to Waterdeep. Food will be provided. The is a tea totaller train. We don’t provide any alcohol. You drink in your off time fine. If you drunk the next day, you are fine one day pay. Respect the customers and don’t get attached.”

Shark, “but what if they want to get to attached to me?” Longnose spits. “No good touchy. No bad touchy. No stab stab touchy. No touchy the customers. In the morning you will get assignments. Point, float, Rear behind all the gear, or night watch. Rear and point will be teamed with a regular guard. Float you will ride up and down the train as necessary. Night watch is two hundred feet roving patrol outside the circle of wagons. I shuffle the wagons everyday for reasons you will learn. Mugen night watch. You can bed down in 16 with Tyjit. The rest of you to your posts.

Information is gathered during the first three days. See below. On the fourth day, wagon 19 joins the group. Zhark talks with them and twigs on something is not right. Some of their weapons are show props. During the evening meal he talks to Longnose and she grabs half the party to confront the new wagon. They are about to get into a fight when the foaming at mouth Zip threatens to bite knee caps off. The actors are busted. They are tied up or manacled and their wagon is booted.

We will pick this up on day five of the road trip. You have a total of forty days to find information.

DM Notes. If you have access to player books like Sword Coast and other guides, feel free to read them. Even during the session. One and only one bagpipe session per adventuring night.

Default race is human is not mentioned. And add your notes to this list as I was thrown stuff out.

Wagon 8. Beer –Beyd Sechepol Half Elf (32). Beer has not been tapped.

Wagon 10 Cooking oil –Lai Angesstun Gold Dwarf (32) money grubber.

Day 14 of road trip

PC Killed 0 Monsters Killed 75 Villains Captured 10 Villains Escaped 96

Start Time 6:25 End Time 9:23

Take 10 Downtime days.

I had a very strong group of seven. String Bean Assassin 4 Taxbaxi. Violet Life Cleric 4. Zhark bard 4 Bugbear. Mugen Druid 4 Human. Zip a Dee do dah barbarian 3 gnome. Nox Monk 4 fairy. Nerezza Monk 4 fairy.

The spying is paying out. But the work is hard with some of the adventurers doing double duty.

Day 6. Zhark, “ATTACK front of train. Perytons. Seven Perytons dive bomb the first four wagons.

Longnose. “Drive thru. Drive thru. Walkers into nearest wagons. Guards earn your pay!” A few short bows and cross bow go off. The rear guard spur their horses. Meanwhile, String Bean and Zhark are engaged. Nox is slowly trying to come awake. The beasts attack Wagon 8 which is lead wagon and wagon 4. Some attack the guards.

In the first fly by Beyd Sechepol is killed. The horses panic where are they going. The angry shield dwarf heart is ripped from her chest. Arrows and spells fly. One beast drops while two fly away. Zhark is attack and tossed from his saddle while his horse runs away.

Mr. Happy, “Hey this a good day. Two dead already and you bard are fading fast. DAMMIT I HATE CLERICS.”

Nox drops the peryton about to swallow Zhark’s heart. More arrows and spells fall on the attackers. Both Nox and Zhark look up at the beer wagon charging them.

Zhark, “Sleep” (New spell is interesting.) One horse goes down and the other trips over it. With the wagon tumble? Tune in next round.

Nox flies out the way and Zhark dives under the wagon as it runs over the dead bird. More monsters drop. Every one is safe. Except for the two dead people.

Druid, “Hey the cleric can cast Revivify.”

Violet, “They have no hearts.”

Day 10 on the trail. Rest day but Achreny has been busted on the uncured furs. He and a team member will be going out hunting for deer brains to rough cure the hides.

Day 11-12. Rocky goes missing and the fact they were being stalked is brought up to the attention of Longnose. She is not happy. Rocky is chased by panther druid Mugen. (Gee a gargoyle running from predator.) Lucky Zhark casts sleep and leashes Rocky. He says magic rat set him free.
