Javelins, Handaxes & Throwing Hammers: What am I missing?

The off-hand property gives the Axe and hammer more versitality than the javelin.

Of course, this matters little now, since the only class in the PHB that could benefit from having a off-hand weapon is an ARCHERY ranger that happens to take some melee powers, since TWF rangers can just use full-sized weapons in both hands. Even a rogue who likes to keep a throwing weapon in their off hand is limited to light blades.

Future books, like the Martial Powers book with its Tempest fighter, should mollify this somewhat.

The javelin is the better throwing weapon. But the the axe and hammer have off-hand. At the moment, off-hand is useful for...

1) Archer rangers
2) Tempest fighters
3) Characters who multiclassed TWF ranger or Tempest fighter powers
4) Half Elves with TWF ranger or Tempest fighter powers
5) Characters who don't uses shields nor two handed weapons
