jeremiah RPG by Mongoose First Glance Questions.

Ok here are some items which may just be typical Mongoose editing coming thru or may be confusion on my part.

FEATS (pg 72) The improved damage threshold is included as a feat, but the system uses grim n gritty and doesn't seem to actually implement massive damage save. Its not in the index nor did i see it mentioned in the combat sections. So, is this feat for playing jeremiah under another system or did the entire massive damage section get accidentally dropped or did i just miss it?

CLASSES (pg 17) "Scavengers are free to select any feat , trained or untrained as a bonus. Theymust still meet all prereqs..." First, what does trained and untrained mean for feats? Second, why is there a list of feats to choose from following this passage if the scavenger can choose any?

PISTOLS (pg 136) Pistols in melee combat: this covers using pistols to shoot at people up close. however, its second sentence states that pistols will suffer a -4 since the target is so close and will be grabbing at the gun hand. That seems to make sense until you realize they said "However, melee attacks with pistols are..." Did you actually mean to be discussing ranged attacks against close targets with that -4 thingy or is melee range considered too close for non-penalty melee attacks with pistols as the rule says?

Enjoyable read so far BTW.

One final question, not an editing issue but a rules issue, am i correct that you can crit with a gun firing one shot but that you cannot crit with a gun firing autofire?

I'm just making judgement calls based on what you've written, since I don't have the book.

Classes: It looks to me as if the scavenger gets an extra feat. That feat and that feat only may be chosen from outside the list of feats for the class.

Pistols: The penalty for using a pistol at melee range is for shooting. If you make a melee attack with a pistol, you are actually clubbing the target with it rather than squeezing the trigger and may ignore the penalty.

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

FEATS
This feat is redundant - it looks like it was from another system ported into the rules by the writer.

CLASSES
The character must meet any prerequisites. The Scavenger must select his bonus feats from the following list but must still meet all prerequisites for the feat chosen.: Acrobatic, Agile Riposte, Alertness, Archaic Weapons Proficiency (melee), Archaic We...etc

PISTOLS
There is nothing wrong with this rule. It's simple: shooting a person adjacent to you does not provoke an attack of opportunity but is made at -4 to hit.

AUTOFIRE
Correct.

Hope that helps. BTW, we have a few downloads available for the Jeremiah RPG at;

Thanks for the answers.

Actually, the rule says "However, melee attacks with pistols are made at -4..." where, if i read you right, it should be talking about "ranged attacks within threat range" which does seem to be a problem with the rule. Emphasis mine.
