Jericho canceled (again)

Shizit. I caught the four episode run on SciFi last Friday (my first exposure to Jericho) and actually liked the series. :]

I swear, some of the producers in H-Wood must be smokin' something.

Ratings did not pick up, despite decreased competition and increased marketing. So, it turns out the executives were right the first time.
Meh. I think they planned it from the start, putting it in the same timeslot that killed Cane and up against ABC's Boston Legal ... the 9pm timeslot winner.

I think they had reason to film both endings, and reason to believe it was possible they could be renewed, and that the executives were giving it a fair shot. It just didn't work out. Unlike certain other creators (ahem, Joss, I am looking at you), I do not think you will hear these folks ever complain, even in private conversation, that they didn't have a fair shot this second season to pull out a renewal.
If you're comparing this cancellation to Firefly being torpedoed... well, if Firefly *had* been given treatment as generous and fair as this, Joss indeed wouldn't have room to complain. But since it wasn't...

Exactly. If he'd gotten the deal Jericho got -- show the episodes in order, beginning with the actual pilot, and on something besides the well-known "Friday night death slot" on Fox -- then sure, he wouldn't have had room to complain.

The two aren't even meaningfully comparable.

kind of a rushed ending.... but at least it was a decent ending.... but (sigh), we'll never know how the war comes out.... unless they write books based on the series, maybe.

I wonder what city they used to stand in for Cheyenne... I certainly didn't recognize anything... :)

The show got a freakin' 6.8 share (6.2 average I heard) at 10pm at night; what they want, I don't know. :)

Oh, well. I liked the ending, though.

Or SCI-FI picks it up and orders more episodes for a new season. Many are hoping.

I'd be on board for that. A second american civil war would be quite interesting and something i haven't seen on tv before.
