Jim Caviezel to play Superman?

AICN posted that neither Caviezel nor Tom Welling are being considered (Welling still has 2 years of Smallville to do, and that'd delay a movie with him).

Bryan Cudmore (sp?), who played Colossus in X2, was auditioning for the part.

AICN isn't exactly known for its accuracy. Need I bring up how easily they were suckered by those ridiculous Batmobile pics, which they believed were real, at first? Nevermind the Angel season premiere, which Herc got a supposed summary of, which he was EFFUSIVE about. Then when it was proved to be false, he then went on about how it was OBVIOUSLY a fake (Funny how he didn't think that the day before when he thought it was real) and was ticked off about how far it got spread across the internet (though it was AICN who was mostly responsible for spreading it, with Herc's reviews).

Having said that, I'm having a hard time believing Millar, too. Well, we'll see either way. Although I'm hoping Caviezel gets the part, since I think he's a great actor.

I would have prefered Welling over Caviezel, but if Welling plays Superman I don't think he can go back to Smallville. It'd be considered a 'downgrade', wouldn't it? ;)

I wouldn't. I don't want to think about that Dawson's Creek wannabee known as Smallville when I see the new Superman movie. Nor do I want to have to explain to people after the movie that Smallville, in fact, is NOT related to the Superman movie. Besides, Welling's acting skills are ... less then something to be desired. And I want a GOOD actor to play Superman in the new movie. I just hope they stick close to the comic story, give us the comic origin, disregard the older films, and don't modify Superman's suit in the slightest bit (Don't make it black, don't make it leather, etc).
