Joker confrimed for Batman Begins sequel.

Indeed. In the comics, Bane (no name given) was born in a South American island where a son would have to serve his father's sentence. So Bane was born sentenced to life. He grew up in prison, and only learned to read and write when he was mutch older. He had a phobia/obsession with bats (and eventually read about the Bat-Man of Gotham in the newspaper). He was already at bodybuilder-level strength, but he volunteered for a "super-soldier" program which developed the drug Venom. He escaped with the criminals that "reared" him in the prison (one of which was a chemist, so he could produce more Venom) and went to Gotham to take down the Bat-Man.

We've never seen Killer Croc, the Clock King, Clayface, the Puppeteer, or Man-Bat. Of them, Clayface is the only one with enough pathos, but if done well he'd steal the show from Batman, and if done poorly he'd suck.

The Puppeteer? Do you mean The Ventriloquist (and Scarface) or is that a different character?

If we're talking about characters that haven't appeared even on the old TV show:

Hugo Strange
Firefly
Killer Moth
Maxie Zeus
Black Mask
KGBeast
Calender Man
Blockbuster
Catman
Deadshot
Cluemaster
Electrocutioner
Magpie
Reaper (the influence for Phantasm)

And, of course, the greatest villain of all time...The Ten-Eyed Man! :D

I kind of fudged on a couple of them that aren't really thought of as batvillains (like Deadshot) and some minor ones (like Magpie), but there are probably a bunch more, some of which aren't even worth thinking about (Kiteman!).

Pesonally, I'd like to see The Ventriloquist and a new Riddler. I also have a soft spot for King Tut and Bookworm. I think it would be kind of cool to see Tut sitting in a cell at Arkham. :)

What major villians haven't been seen yet?

Clayface, Killer Croc, Hugo Strange (arguably major- I think most everyone is familiar with the name, even if he hasn't appeared all that much in the comics/tv), Mad Hatter (though that one might be problematic), Scarface/Ventriloquist, Deadshot (Bats had him first, I believe).

Bats has a great Rogue's Gallery.

In the LOST threads from this past season, we discussed the possibility of Michael "Henry Gale" Emerson as being a good candidate for the Joker. I'm inclined to think he'd do a bang-up job.

Clayface would be a good villain, though you might want to curb the more extreme levels of his shapeshifting ability.

The first Clayface didn't have the ability to change shape initially- he was just an actor turned serial killer with a mask.

The most well known Clayface (at least to me) was the third one, who likewise didn't change shape, but was hideously disfigured and had an acidic touch.

I think the shapeshifting aspect of Clayface mostly came about in the old Batman cartoons, and (more recently) in the newer Batman cartoons based on an earlier Clayface (#2).

I think that- particularly given the effects that are possible today- a shapeshifting Clayface is most likely to pop up, but I could definitely see something more along the lines of the first Clayface in the current Batman film mentality- Batman Begins seems a more down to earth, less whacky sci-fi sort of story that might be better served by a more human-like Clayface than just an out and out shapeshifter. If they ever use Clayface, though, I suspect we'll see something more of a CGI morphing sort of character.

Didn't he also take over the Gotham Underworld around/at the same time? I have only read a smattering of the Knightfall storylines (I think it was Knightfall that introduced Bane), but yeah, as I recall he was, and is, at least as intelligent and capable as he is strong. He's become sort of an anti-hero these days, as I understand it (even working with Batman on occasion), and is off the Venom, but is still a pretty mean character.

It just occurred to me- I'd love to see an Arkham Asylum sort of movie- with all the nastiest Bat-characters running around, and little to no actual Batman in sight. Perhaps an adaptation of Dan Slott's darkly comic Arkham Asylum: Life in Hell miniseries or something similar.

SMBC Joker comic
SMBC Riddler comic

They won't do Clayface, because Spidey 3 has Sandman and they're too similar in theme to folks who don't know them well.

RangerWickett, your nostalgia may be playing you false! The Riddler was a third rate and little seen villain, only brought into prominence by Frank Gorshin's great performance in ther Adam West Batman show. If he's a genius, it's a late development. And Clock King? Bwah ha ha ha ha! Sean Baby's page on him includes...
DC's Who's Who described him bluntly as "An average athlete... He has no special weapons or powers." Think how hilarious the police scanner would be after a Clock King crime: "Attention officers, we have reports of the suspect in the area. He is unarmed and should be considered badly dressed. Apprehending officers are advised to use caution - reports indicate the suspect loves clocks. Repeat: He enjoys clocks very much. Over."

Cthluhudrew -> as I understand it, Superboy Prime punched Bane back to his more recogniseable self.

Hopefully, the movies will take less from the comics and more from the outstanding Batman:tAS. But now that Paul Dini is writing Detective Comics, it is very promising.

I mean, just imagine if Rachel Dowes becomes the Phantasm? ;)

Voice-wise? Yeah. But his portrayal of the Trickster in the Flash TV series (the closest he ever came to playing the Joker in live-action) wasn't anything to write home about.

Two Face already has been in a movie though. Not sure if he's gonna be in another one, but apparently the Joker is, so I guess he could be too.

Yeah, but this new series is a complete reboot, with no connection to the old ones. I can't imagine they'd let that stop them.

Rumor has it (and this is only a rumor, but I'll spoiler-tag it anyway, just in case):

[sblock]At least one of the possible plans they were considering is that Joker is the main villain in movie two, and Harvey Dent is a secondary character. In movie three, Harvey Dent is prosecuting the Joker, and it's the Joker who attacks him and causes the scarring that results in Two-Face.[/sblock]

Again, just rumor, so take it with a big-ol' grain of salt. I kind of like the idea, though.
