RangerWickett, your nostalgia may be playing you false! The Riddler was a third rate and little seen villain, only brought into prominence by Frank Gorshin's great performance in ther Adam West Batman show. If he's a genius, it's a late development.

That's actually my recollection, as well. I know that Gorshin really brought the character to life (although in a campy way), but the Riddler's genius was always a part of the character- his name Edward Nigma (E. Nigma), his tendency to plot elaborate crimes and leave clues to the nature of them, all were part of his overwhelming ego in regards to his intelligence.

The fact that Batman always solved them, of course, just shows that he isn't the smartest person in the world.

Pre-Crisis, the Riddler was a pretty solid mainstay of the Bat-titles, appearance wise. Post-Crisis, he's pretty well gotten the shaft and been written off as everything from an inept and compulsive bumbler to a ranting psycho. Jeff Loeb brought him back to prominence with the Hush storyline, but he's been used very badly (again) ever since.

Cthluhudrew -> as I understand it, Superboy Prime punched Bane back to his more recogniseable self.

Darn that Superboy and his reality altering mood swings!!

He and the Scarlet Witch need to duke it out for title of "World's Biggest Deus Ex Machina" one of these days.

Of curse, their unholy spawn would be Scarlet Boy and Superwitch, and they would rule the galaxy!

Luke Skywalker will not be the joker. Being the Joker would make Mark Hamill more then Luke Skywalker/a voice actor andf Hollywood has made a mission out of stopping his typecast as everyones favorite farm boy Jedi.

I totally agree, but the most consistent rumor I've heard is that Paul Bettany (Silas from Da Vinci Code) is the leading candidate.

Paul Bettany would be an excellent choice. I've seen him do funny, zany and deadly, and he's been convincing at all three.
