Jubilex weaker than a Balor?

I guess since there are only six balors in all of existence*, I don't mind so much.

* And their names are ALZOLL, ERRTU, KLAVIKUS, NDULU, TER-SOTH, AND WENDONAI.

Oh come, on, that's just a myth. Each of us here has killed more of them than that, and we will again!

You've never seen more than six at one time, now, have you? I hear the Abyss is heavy into recycling.

The great god WENDONAI is dead. Long live WENDONAI!

Wait a sec...

AC 32 is pretty high, only the first 3 longsword attacks will hit on average.

AC 32 is pretty lame, actually, although it's an ooze, so I guess it shouldn't be all that high. Still, three longsword attacks that he can barely do anything about? It's almost like he's helpless.

Bottom line is, if the Balor fights he is gonna lose weapons worth nearly 80,000 GP.

And re-create them? No one knows where the balor gets his weapons from. Anyway, I don't think one demon would take on a demon lord. They need to form a conspiracy of two or three, and of course they'll backstab each other while Juiblex dissolves. Whoever beats Juiblex gets something worth more than a few thousand gp.

Except that if the three attacks are from the same longsword, the longsword will be destroyed with the first attack (and his DR 20 will stop most of the damage).

Hardly what I would call helpless.

Still, the main point still stands: Why is Juiblex a CR 19? hello? He's a freakin' DEMON LORD!

CR 19? I ________ CR 19's after I wake up in the morning. :]

Another poster said there are scaling rules in the book just for this purpose. CR 19 is the baseline, and then DMs are free to ramp it up as they see fit. I kind of like that, so long as the rules are robust and flexible.

________ = "use as deodorant" for me. Though Jubilex deodorant would be rather painful. ;)

I do not like the CR 19-23 demon lords either. That is why I will only use the parts of these demon lords that give 3.5 updates to the BoVD versions. Then I shall give them all the Demon Lord template from the appropriate slayer's guide. Then I shall advance them via the guidlines in FC1.
