Judgement Day: EVIL (Good stay out)

OOC: In terms of how you joined, why, what you are getting out of being part of this and ect, I am leaving it up to you guys so you can add it to your history. The call for evil beings has been sent out for the year. You have all met Vorasin, for he is the one who conducts all of your meetings and gives you your missions. Nobody knows anything about him though.

IC: The gate gaurds escort Aethan through the keep and bring him to a dining room, decked out in the finest decorations (expensive carpets, silk drapes, silver dining ware and the like). They tell you to have a seat and wait for the arrival of the other generals.

Alosat walks into the dining room, and was surprised to see a ghost before him. Closer examination revealed that it was none other than Aethan Nighthaunt, the powerful archpriest of Jemal, the lord of undeath. His cruelty was only matched by his power, or so the legends say...

"Ah, your grace. Honoured to meet you. Alosat the Protean at your service. Though," he added, seeing that he does not recognise the name, "I may have been better known as Nehmet."

What is this godslave doing here? Has things gotten so bad that even the old bloodsucker is growing restless and fearful in his coffin? Interesting times indeed...

IC:
The door opens a few minutes after the arrival of the first and a paleskinned darkhaired apparently young woman wanders into the room, floating just a few inches above the floor. She's wearing a white dress with blue decorations. Half of dozen of stones are floating near her, circling her. She is Gwynneth, the Lady of Thunder has arrived.

She floats over to one of the seats, casting a disdaining look at it, before she remains floating, just positioning herself in lotus position a few feet above the ground. She then casts a glance to the others in the room, before speaking up. "I am the Lady of Thunder. Whyfor have I been summoned?"

IC:

A dusky skinned man, perhaps in his mid twenties walks into the room, his head is shaved and he wears comfortable robes of average quality that are common to the River Kingdom. As he steps into the room suprise show on his handsome face seeing a spirit here, but only briefly.

He smiles pleasantly to all assembled, "I am Harkuf. It appears we have quite an interesting assemblage here." looking briefly at the spirit surrounded by undead body guards and the floating girl.

OOC:

Those with detect magic (or Arcane Sight) will see he is lit up like a christmas tree, he is heavily warded with multiple spells including an illusion.

I image Gwynneth with her +54 Knowledge: History would have heard of a man named Harkuf who had an affair with the Pharoah's wife and was exiled to the desert (a death sentence) for it. That was about 20 years ago. I presume all would have heard of the destruction of the River Kingdom about 8 years ago, the people of the River Kingdom exist now only as refugees

OOC: Aethan wouldn't have brought more than a couple of undead with him (probably a Devourer and two of the Dread Wraiths); but regardless, they'd have been left outside the dining room; given that they're not great conversationalists. :)

OOC2: Also, I'm going to assume that while he hasn't met any of you in person Aethan at least knows of you by reputation. Given that the number of active CR 30 individuals is likely to be small this doesn't seem unlikely.

"The Wanderer, the Tempest and the Sand Mage. Why would Lord Vorasin choose the four of us to conquer this city?" Aethan ponders.

Turning towards Gwynneth, he responds to her query. "Lord Vorasin has asked that we conquer the mortal city of Maleign. Given that he has chosen the four of us for this task I suspect that it will not be easy."

Alosat walks over to the table to find a seat. As he walks past Gwynneth, he flickers his antimagic field on then off in quick succession, so that she drops into her chair. He then sits down with a poker face, pretending it didn't happen.

He retrieves a crystal shard from one of his pockets. "You have all received something like this from our generous host, yes? An interesting bit of magic. Teleportation on this kind of scale must have cost him a fortune."

"Great batallions of infernal hosts are unwieldy, however. If we were to slip into the city as simple travellers, we could do so unnoticed. Conquest could be as simple as a few choice assassinations."

After watching Alosat's antics, Harkuf thinks to himself Let the testing begin. Why do these people always feel it neccessary to test their strength against each other? If this girl is as remotely young as she appears, it is likely there is about to be an escalating series of violent acts. Even if she isn't I doubt that she will laugh it off.

The real question is, should I attempt to defuse the situation or wait and see where it takes us, perhaps finish off the victor and wipe my hands of this.
He looks over at the spirit, Likely I would have to split the bounty of their items with the spectre, or destroy him as well, if I can.

One of the fantastically powerful Ioun stones that scattered under the effect of the antimagic field slides next to him, he looks down at it, Of course none of that furthers my goals, I must stay focused. The desert waits, the desert is relentless. With a small nudge from his sandalled foot, he inconspiciously sends the Ioun Stone back within reach of the young woman.

He waits to see what the girl will do at this insult.

IC:
It is not magic that keeps Gwynneth flying though, it is that she transcended into elemental form a long time ago. However the flying pearls and a multitude of other things stop working and she does look like she's more heavily burdened just while the field is near her. She casts a glance around, but does not take action.

She smirks to Aethan after his comment directed at her. "If I had only sought out easy challenges in the past, I would still be studying cantrips, Lord of the River Kingdom."

OOC:
I agree with Pyrex. Even if we have never met in person, then we'll know eachother by reputation. 30th level characters aren't exactly the most common people to run around. :)

Harkuf archs an eyebrow, smiles and nods to the girl, a little suprised by her ability to ignore the insult.

He walks to the table, but remains standing, his arms loose at his side, "If we are called to defeat this city, I would imagine there is more to this than it would appear. I would suggest we use caution and scout out what defenses the city has available to it before we make any kind of plans."

Gwynneth picks up the stones and puts them in motion again around her, before she smirks just slightly.

"I could attempt to do a bit of scrying and divining. However it's just a city, so why waste time on such spells, when the fastest way is most often the most direct way?"
