[Judges Guild/Necromancer] Wilderlands Player's Guide Available

Akira-

There is most definately supposed to be a map in the back. For now, you can view the map at the judges guild web site at www.judgesguild.com. Scroll down to the bottom and you can find it there. When it opens and shrinks down us the expand button on the bottom right corner to blow it back up again (if your browser does that automatically). But you better talk to your FLGS and make sure they arent scamming you and removing maps and selling them seperately or something. And if they really got a shipment without them, they need to contact the distributor or SSS directly. If I were you, I would return the book to the store. Some people have posted saying the gum was too good and that the map was in there too solidly. This is why. We didnt want any problems with the map not being in the book. I will look into this on the printer end and see what is up, but as far as I know I havent heard of copies going out without maps.

John-

No, there isnt a fan section of the setting. But in a sense the whole world is a fan section. You are free to do with it what you want. But we are going to have a section of the judgesguild site (it is being put up this weekend) that will be its own page dedicated to stuff fans send in--expansions of villages, more details on areas, sample ruins or dungeons, npcs, adventure ideas, whatever.

Thanks for the info, Clark. I'll let the owner know (I've known the guy for years, and doing something like you suggest isn't something he'd do; besides, like I said, there's no evidence that a map was in the books in the first place - if there was really strong glue holding them in place, something would have been left behind).

By the way, I just sent some content to our web guy to be posted as free downloads on the Judges Guild page (www.judgesguild.com). They should be up tomorrow. So keep an eye on the Necromancer Games Judges Guild site. This content will be added to the soon to be created (as in tomorrow or Tuesday) Downloads page that you can reach from the main Judges Guild page by following the button on the left hand side of the page marked "Downloads" (if that button isnt there then the page isnt up yet).

Here are the blurbs:

Rorystone Road

As promised in the Player's Guide to the Wilderlands, this download provides a detailed look at the region from the City State of the Invincible Overlord to the dwarven citadel of Thunderhold. Mapped in 5 mile hexes, with all the villages, towns, castles, citadels and lairs detailed in full. It is a preview of the degree of detail and type of content you can expect from the upcoming Wilderlands of High Fantasy Boxed Set.

Campaign Hexagon Maps

Download the hex maps for use in the Campaign Hexagon System. The large overland maps of the Wilderlands setting are mapped in 5 mile hexes. Each five-mile hex can be broken down using these maps into smaller hexes of .2 miles (1056 feet). Using the same maps, those .2 mile hexes can be broken down into smaller hexes approximately 40 feet from side to side. Download the blank Campaign Hexagon Maps here.

Coming Soon!

Downloads featuring the dwarven citadel of Thunderhold, the towns of Modron, Haghill, Byrny and Trollslore and several dungeons, including the Sunstone Caverns near Thunderhold and the dungeons beneath the City State. All revised and updated for v3.5.

Well, in between the demands of a newborn and the writing I need to get done, I managed to take a little bit of time to look this over this weekend. I had the time to read the history in its entirety and the map overview. I have to say that I am very much liking what I see here. I'm about to start a new (hopefully) long-term roleplaying group. I'm seriously considering setting it here.

Just wait until you see the Rorystone Road download. I think that will seal the deal. Plus, as I mentioned above, we will quickly have downloads of the dwarven citadel Thunderhold (with maps) as well as Modron, Byrny, Haghill, Trollslore and more (all with maps).

Hey Orcus,

Will you be printing the maps similar to the way Judges Guild did them for Wilderlands and The City State as well as Tarantis? By that I mean one for the DM and one "blank" one for the players to fill in as they travelled? I still have both copies of maps #1 and #2 for the DM and players from 1977. I don't what paper they were printed on but those have stood up forever.

Thanks
HM

Hairy, no unfortunately not. We will make Player's Maps available on line for download. The stock of that paper is just out of this world expensive. And unless you use that paper you cant really erase or reuse the player's maps. So we figured that the best way was to make them downloads so you could always get a new one to reuse.

Thanks for the reply. Will this mean that the player's downloads will be "blank"? Just coastline and a couple of miles of major rivers?

Thanks

No, the Player's Map is online. You can check it out at www.judgesguild.com. Go to the Downloads page. You can see the full color player's map there. Note that there are some purposeful inaccuracies and that not all details are present. We thought it best to make a map like perhaps you would see painted on the wall at the School of Ancient Knowledge or something like that in the City State. The map, thus, is more accurate closer to the City State and Viridistan and less accurate further away.

Oh, I should also point out that the Rorystone Road download is up and available for your perusal. This download is a slice of what you can expect from our upcoming Wilderlands of High Fantasy Boxed Set. It details the region in and around Rorystone Road that runs from the City State to the dwarven citadel of Thunderhold.
