July - What are you listening to? (Books AND music)

"Antigravity" - Zircon. An actual (modern) album? Yep. Got turned on to this one via ocremix.org and bought an electronic copy. I usually enjoy techno music when I hear it, and it's great for writing.

Other than that, the Final Fantasy 12 OST joins the usuals (Wild ARMs, Sakura Taisen, etc.)

Add All Things Bright and Beautiful and All Things Wise and Wonderful. Starting in on A Commonwealth of Thieves by Thomas Keneally and James Herriot's fourth, The Lord God Made Them All.

Podcasts like "60 Second Science" and "Science Talk" from Scientific American; National Geographic podcasts; NOVA podcasts; I listened to audiobooks of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Treasure Island, and The Time Machine recently; and am now struggling to get through listening to The Silmarillion (couldn't get past the first few chapters reading it, and am about to zonk out around the same place listening to it).

I have the audiobook of "A Princess of Mars" on order from my library system. :)

Hmm ... just finished listening to Prince Caspian again.

Very well done - the fella playing Trumpkin was just plain hilarious!

On another note ... I agree with Wombat about the poetry being usually better heard than read....

I tried out the new Ministry album, and sadly it sucks.

I've been listening to

- Zombie Girl (Blood Brains and Rock and Roll)
- Skinny Puppy (mythmaker)
- This Morn'Omina (Les Passages Jumeaux - Le 25ième degré ~ Le 33ième degré)

Been listening to, well, everything since I now have an iPod. :)

But, I did pick up the new Velvet Revolver (Libertad) and Smashing Pumpkins (Zeitgeist) albums. Of the two, I prefer Libertad.

The Else - They Might Be Giants' 12th album! Now if I could just figure out what number eleven was...

Avril Lavigne's Best Damn Thing

and random other stuff mixed in since I don't actually listen to whole album's except for the first time through.

I can recomend 3 amazing records:

Dominici - O3 - A trilogy, part 2

The former singer of Dream Theater shocks us with a superb album, this is a contender for the best progressive metal album of the year, without a doubt. Great voice, excellent songs.
Sounds like Dream Theater, but with more melody.

Anubis Gate - Andromeda Unchained

A stunning album with lots of new, fresh ideas. Very heavy, still quite progressive with an amazing singer. Sounds like a young Geoff Tate. Musically - well, you just got to listen :)

Circus Maximus - Isolate

Another blistering album from the norwegians! Their mix of Dream Theater and Symphony X works amazingly well, and a very solid production paired with the clean vocals of Michael Eriksen makes this record a must have.

We have the same taste. I dig the new Charlie Dominici, and I am drooling for the new Circus Maximus (not available in the states yet).

Have you heard the new album, Amaran's Plight? It's really quite good.
