jumping hight

blargney didn't ask about increasing the length of the long jump, but moving sideways. To me that implies changing the direction of your movement at the apex of the jump. blargney, it would help if you clarify your question for us. Did kenobi65 answer the intended question?

Ahhh...yeah, I interpreted "sideways" as "horizontal / long jump" distance. Based on blargney's response, I'm thinking I guessed right.

Changing direction in mid-air (i.e., truly "sideways", as in you're jumping in a northerly direction, and want to make a left-turn to a westerly direction) would only be possible if you had some way to apply a large amount of thrust while in mid-air. Feather Fall sure wouldn't do that; short of a jet-pack, a rocket motor, or a really big gun with massive recoil, I'm not sure how you *would* do that.

By jumping next to a wall? :)

Duh! Yeah, that'd be a whole lot simpler than a jet-pack. My mental blinders were on; I never thought of a wall.

Still, it's the same principle...if you have a wall to push off of, you'd be able to apply thrust and change your trajectory. Without something to push off of, you've got no way to apply that thrust.
