I have borrowed Spellforce (CRPG/RTS-hybrid) from a friend, that game is quite fun. :)

While I was looking for an early release copy of San Andreas yesterday (no dice for the PC, but I could have had it for the Xbox), I found a copy of Spellforce. I almost bought it until I noticed the mangled box and broke CD case. That's a shame really, I wanted to try it out.

I'm playing a game I downloaded online called "Fate". Very much a Diablo clone with more cartoony graphics. No story to speak off, but similar to a rogue-like game with decent graphics and lots of hack-n-slash. Very fun game, you can check out a demo at fatethegame dot com. Well worth the $20 cost for the full version.

Currently KOTOR II on the PC...

Had a real hankering to play some stompy mech games, so working my way through the Mechwarrior 4 series - Vengance finished, about half way through Black Knight, then it'll be Mercenary...

I just picked up GTA: San Andreas last night. I was pleased to see that the Wal-Mart I bought it at had the registers keyed up to prompt for an ID check anytime a copy is rang up. I love the GTA series, but it is NOT for minors. That said, so far, it's the best of the series.

Nothing, I've actually been spending my free time getting some reading done, which I had gotten really far behind on.

Did the same thing when I picked up God of War there, of course this makes me wonder why they insist on clean versions of music cd's when they sell r rated movies and mature rated games.

I've been playing Fate (www.playfate.com). It's a downloadable for $20 (demo is free and lets you get to the third level of the dungeon). It's basically a Diablo/NetHack hybrid (okay, it's not nearly as cool as NetHack, but then what is?). Random Dungeon, no real story (go kill BBEG X on level 48 (or whatever) of the dungeon), lots of side quests along the way. You start out with a pet dog or cat that you can transform into larger beasts as the game progresses (right now mine is a gargoyle).

What is amazing is it was put together by a small team in only 5 months. The engineer on the project is very engaged in the message boards and has been very reactive to usability enhancement requests and bug fixes. He made the game easily moddable so I expect this one to have a long lived community.

My wife spotted TRON 2.0 for $4 at a store the other day, so I've been playing that.

I hate FPS games... so Tron 2.0 is kinda iffy for me... but there's the bonus of the sound effects. I think I'm actually playing it just to hear the sound effects and to look at the pretty levels. Feels like the movie and I love that.

World of Warcraft is basically Diablo 2 on steroids, thats what it plays like.
They've got similar style for obvious reasons, but I don't think the play experience is comparable. WoW definitely had more in common with it's MMORPG brethren than it does with Diablo (though the things it *does* have from Diablo are welcome additions).
