Just Curious ... Hom many come from AD&D?

Started with the Moldvay Basic Set in 81-ish. Played it for awhile and then moved to AD&D. Played with that through 2nd edition and then took a long break from the game, coming back into it about a year and half or so ago.

I started around 82 or so with Basic, though I never did play much until I got to College in 89, and by then, it was 1E AD&D all the way, though I did switch to 2E around then as well - really, kept on playing both, until a long dry spell that only ended with the advent of 3E. And then as 3.5E came out, began my law school dry spell, which is hopefully going to end soon...

I loved 1E - and I really love 3E/3.5E - just need to get some play...

I started playing 1982 with the Red D&D basic set (with the Erol Otus cover). We played a mutant hybrid of D&D and AD&D until about 1985, then I played pretty much straight AD&D. I switched to 2nd edition when it came out and dabbled with the Skills & Powers and Player's Options (but never fully adopted those rules). I switched to 3rd edition when it came out and now play a mostly 3.5 game (with a few rules adopted from Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved).

Im brand new to this forum and I was just wondering how many members are "Old School" AD&D players who still play (despite marriage, kids, jobs, bills, etc) and how may started D&D with the 3.5 rules...

Old school here.

I've been been playing since '99 (when I was 13) so I started right before 3rd edition. I was just getting the hang of all the funkiness of 2nd edition when 3e came out too :p

I started with the Red Box in the early 80's, and quickly moved to AD&D. Dropped it by the time 2ed hit the shelves, having moved on to other things. Pretty much gave up RPGing untill the White Wolf games revived the scene at my Uni, but didn't pick up D&D again till 3E. Now, I haven't played in over a year, but I'm itching for a game. Just gotta find the players.;)

Technically, I got into D&D with the original Baldur's Gate CRPG bakc in 1997 or so. Started playing 'real' D&D a year later with AD&D 2e.

Not even close to being old school. ;)
