Halo really is great. Oh, and I highly recommend the novels!

The first one, The Fall of Reach and the third one First Strike are written by Eric Nylund and are both really good. The second The Flood is the novelization of the events that happen in the game and is written by a different author. And it sucks. :(

The Fall of Reach deals with the creation of the Spartan Program, the Mjolnir Armor, and Master Chief's beginnings. Master Chief (a.k.a. John) is a very interesting character. First Strike acts as the bridge between Halo and Halo 2 and has a boat load of very intense action and mystery.

Reading those books made me like the game so much more.

I'm with Sorren on this one. I got Fall of Reach about a month before I got my XBox in and Halo and I must say by the time I finished the book Christmas could not come early enough. I played the single-player all the way through a few times and then kind of put the game on the shelf because no one I knew had an XBox and at the time I only had one controller.

Then about a year and a half later some friends of mine were having a Halo party and the rest is history. Nothing beats relaxing at school by having a 12-man game going, yelling at each other across the halls with everyone's door open. Then you have the people that you game with weekly that you know solely by their Halo handle even though you live next door to the kid. For about three months we knew this guy Brad solely as Mint Jelly.

When watching the gameplay trailer for Halo 2, the chief grabbed one of the hover craft thingies (forget the name) while it was moving, jumped on behind the driver, and tossed the current occupant off and comandeered it. Nice.
Fo' shizzle.

Sounds awesome. Well, count me in on the Halo craze. It will be cool to be able to play deathmatches on Xbox Live as well. Between that and Madden I'm going to have very little time this fall...

That's a matter of opinion.

But anyways Halo truly shines in the 16 person CTF or Deathmatch with tanks and Warthogs.

Actually it is pretty much a fact. Though the controls for Halo are better than most console FPS.
