Just signed up for 2 more years

I re-upped mine back in June and really wish I hadn't. Too much of the magazine is given up to stuff that I find absolutely useless. I may switch to Dungeon when the current Dragon sub runs out.

i used to get dragon monthly at the FLGS till i realised i was only buying it for the comics. I play Dragonlance pretty much exclusively, so the gaming mags really have nothing for me, except for 315. as such, i stopped. Nodwick and Dork Tower update pretty regularly online, and i buy their comics monthly. every now and again i'll flip through an issue of dragon to read interesting stuff, like the american gods article, but not enough to warrent paying for it.

I have a few more issues to go before this subscription expires and I think I will just let it lapse and buy the magazines from my FLGS.

The problem for me as an international subscriber is that I am usually three issues behind my FLGS and every third issue (improved from every second issue during the first year of my subscription) goes missing... but it takes about 10 weeks before I know for sure.

I still don't believe that there can be a class of mail in the 21st Century that can take so long and be so unreliable. I actually think that Paizo is paying the US Post Office to sit on my magazines for about eight weeks and then lose every third one. ;)

Dragon really frustrates me because every time I'm convinced they've completely lost any use to me, they go out and put out one really cool issue, so I renew, only to repeat the cycle.

Still, I will probably renew this time, mostly because of Erik Mona's appointment as EIC. I really like the way he's cast Resurrect Magazine on Dungeon and wanna see if he can do the same thing to Dragon.

For a time I very seriously considered dumping Dragon in favor of the WotC website, but then they went and uglied it up and started dumping all the cool features, so I changed my mind.

Though I do think part of Dragon's problem is that a lot of the type of stuff I used to read it for back in the day is available for free on the Internet now. Dragon may be offering 100% official content, but generally speaking I prefer unofficial content from Named Designer Whose Previous Works I've Enjoyed to official content from Designer I've Never Heard of Before.

I had a 2 year sub that started when 3e did.

After a while I realized that I was only glancing at the occasional article and cartoon, avoiding the fiction like the plague, and rolling my eyes at most of the letters.

Dropped the sub. Never regretted it.

I get both (need to check on time remaining, though ...). I prefer Dungeon to Dragon. New Dragon format is nice, but not much in it has appealed to me lately (Dungeon's been great, though -- probably reflects the amount of time I spent DMing!)

Title of the thread reminded me of a cadence:

Re-up, re-up you're crazy,
Re-up, you're outta your mind.

I renewed both recently (Dungeon about a month ago, Dragon a few months before that) and am regretting it. It has nothing to do with the content, which is mostly what I expected when I subscribed, though.

About 6 months ago, I would receive my Dragon a day or two before the FLGS usually. At worst it was the day after they got it. Now, however, I'm not getting it until about 10 days-2 weeks after they get it. This isn't really how I feel loyal subscribers should be treated. Yes, I get it much cheaper than buying it on the stands. However, my main reason for subscribing is to not have to worry about looking for it at the store and to get the issues ASAP. That's not happening now.

Dropped Dragon long ago. I browsed through the current issue and still see no reason to buy, let alone subscribe. I did renew my Dungeon for 3 years 4 or 5 months ago.

Dragon no longer gives me anything I can't do myself, Dungeon gives me a lot.

With the way its been going since the "Unleashed" reformat, I was ready to let my subscription lapse, and planned to pick up the occasional issue that had something of interest to me. Now that Erik Mona has been handed the reins, I'm confident that I'll end up renewing again. He's done a great job with Dungeon, so I think he can make Dragon worthwhile again.

I subscribed in July and I still haven't seen a single issue. Apparently it isn't abnormal for European subscribers to have to wait over 8 weeks to get their subscription.

After about 9 weeks and a lot of mails from me they eventually decided to try and resend me the first issue I should've received.

This is making me think of my last subscription a few years back when Paizo just started. Hasbro booted all the European subscribers out and Paizo didn't feel like letting us back in. They came up with an amazing range of poor excuses from European privacy laws to Hasbro'ish greed.

IN any case, after this year I don't I'll be stupid enough to re-subscribe, and neither will several of my friends!
