As much as it might not be a racist symbol, it's certainly not one of inclusion and acceptance either.
Alright. Since y'all seem bound and determined to keep on about that aspect of what I said and get the bloody thread shut down, I'm going to go ahead and point out what I started to say in my response to Tom Cashel:

[edit: Oh, no you're not!]

But I didn't want to get into all that. Can we go back to just talking about how cool it might be to see people riding around in a nifty car again? Or winning a contest? Thanks.

Proctor: "Well, Mr.Nahasapeemapetilon, we're almost done here. Just one more question for you; what started the civil war?"

Apu: "There were many factors; economic, states rights..."

Proctor: "Just say slavery."

Apu: "Slavery it is!"

Seriously though, I agree with you. It's the old "a few bad apples" scenario. People see a few idiots waving the flag and suddenly they think all Southerners are racist rednecks. :(

Anyway, I think it would be great to make $100,000 a year by simply watching the Dukes of Hazzard. And Catherine Bach was HOT! Even when I was 6 I thought she was hot.

Let me guess. You're from Southern England? :p

We were in Vacaville (just south of Sacramento in Northern California) and my mom (who's from Alabama) was shopping in JCPenneys. The cashier told her she had a cute accent and asked if she was from Southern California.

Moderator's Notes: Y'all know better than to discuss politics here. Don't do it, no way, no how.

Yeehaw!

Daniel

Edit: I've edited out the longest of the political posts, but that's not to say the others are okay; I just don't want to have to edit five or six different posts.

Now, now. As someone with 4 times as many posts as me, you should know better. ;)

As someone with a quarter as many posts as me, you should know that my posts should be consumed with a healthy dash of NaCL. :)

Plenty of racist rednecks wherever you look; no need to go to the South. (Good thing, too--I hate the South. ;) )

I've lived all over, and read from all over, and my vocabulary is a terrible hodge-podge. And I have a tendency to quickly adapt to match the accent and speaking pattern of whomever I'm talking to. One of the more embarassing moments I had back when I was in computer sales was when I and the Australian couple I was showing some systems to suddenly realized that for about the last five minutes of the thirty or so we had been talking, I had been talking like them. Fortunately, they were understanding and didn't think I was making fun of them or anything. :)

I pick up dialects quickly, also.

Yeah, I do too -- too many penguins, all that ice, the subzero temperatures... very inhosptable place.

My motto when below the Mason Dixon: As soon as you hear the "hee", don't wait around for the "haw!" ;)

I'd still want to ride around in the General Lee though.
