When I get a chance (been far too busy at home and work), I'm going to call around to some hotels to see about costs, and what kind of rates there are.

The first Chicago Gameday had about two dozen attendees, and Ohio had just over that. A couple of dozen might be a good number to shoot for and use as your working attendance number for planning. I think you'll find that more people become involved as you settle on a location, a date and start to organize the games. Just my latest two cents, there.
