Kansas City Game Day - A success! Photos on page 12.

So, what do you guys think - try for a small get together and see how it turns out? Perhaps we could even set aside some time at our game day to discuss the possibility of establishing a convention.

When I get a chance (been far too busy at home and work), I'm going to call around to some hotels to see about costs, and what kind of rates there are.

Thoughts?

The first Chicago Gameday had about two dozen attendees, and Ohio had just over that. A couple of dozen might be a good number to shoot for and use as your working attendance number for planning. I think you'll find that more people become involved as you settle on a location, a date and start to organize the games. Just my latest two cents, there. :)

If we only have a dozen or so, just let Phil know and it wont be a problem for him. We could do the social there I suspect, his game room holds about 40 people easy. I would shoot for a sunday as saturdays are weird for alot of folks.

I will make every effort to attend and I have one of my players that I can probably coerce into going, he is also a poster here.

I doubt that the rest of the crowd I game with would attend, they are a bunch of game snobs really. That is okay though, I have a few "one shot" supplemental games coming up that are occurring parallel to mi campaigns main storyline, I am looking for a few folks that might be interested in a one shot session.

Anywhoo, as long as scheduling permits, I will be there and will have at least one if not two others in tow.

I suspect that a few of the Table Top regulars would be interested as well. If we do any sort of advertising at Phil's place, Battlezone or 31st Century, we might get a fair number of local non-ENworlders as well.

Which might help with the social gathering --> convention progression.

Hmm... Curtis I'll email you here in a sec:)

Lets take it in baby steps.

Lets just get together and see who bites. If there is enough interest that our "socials" start to attract a larger interest then I say we stage a coupe and boot the RPGKC and ShaunCon out the door!

Well, okay maybe nothing that drastic, but it would be nice to have a few RPGKC alternative gaming gatherings.

I wasn't thinking _immediately_, but that there might be more interested in this than just us. I'm sure there are plenty of local gamers who have never heard of EN world, and would have no idea of any get-together unless we told them about it.

It might be a good way to gauge whether we're aiming for a 20-person game day or a 35-person game day.

You are absolutely right.

That is what I was thinking as well. Like I stated earlier, I 'represent' about 10 - 15 gamers. If us Enworlders get together a couple of times, word of mouth and public exposure (being seen at Phils) will bring in more attendees.

As a side note, and I intend no insult, I wont step foot in Battlezone...it smells too bad. Since I quit smoking a few months back my sense of smell has returned with an overwhelming vengeance and sour stale gamer butt makes me vomit.

Like I said, I think we could set aside some time at our game day to discuss such things. It sounds like the consensus is to meet at TableTop (seems to be some disagreement between Sunday or Saturday), and do some gaming.

I think if we organized, and got Phil's support, we'd have the manpower to pull off an awesome con.

Well I wil go on record as saying that Sunday is my first choice, but Saturday is fine as well. With enough advance notice, I can do largely anything.

Thanks, Billy. I'm actually leaning towards the idea of holding it at a conference room at a hotel. Mostly because the parking availability at TableTop is awful!

Another Lawrence-ite here! Been in Lawrence since '83. D and D since '78. I'll show if you get it arranged.

gary:)

Phil has connections :) I didn't really realize how big Phil's operation was until I was talking to him about gencon last year. You know he is the ONLY distributor for a line of German-made figures and the wargame they support? Anyone in the States who wants it, orders it from him.
Some kick-ass figs in that line too. Plenty of stuff that can cross over.
