Keen/Improved Crit

Still, the last post came off a bit harsh.

There have been numerous threads going over the balance issues and most of the time having an extra simple +1 is a better option than keen (hit slightly more often, do a little more damage, not have to worry about creatures that are immune to crits, higher hardness, more hp, etc).

If people would like to say it is overpowered, please give numerical reasons as to why. Many have already posted numbers elsewhere which say the opposite.

Going off of terms of 'realism' is a bit ambiguous, the cold, hard numbers are what are needed here. So, those of you who think it is overpowered, get to proving it ;)

What about us Weapon Masters?

Hey Y'all,

I have been playing a Weapon Master, who gets a further crit range as a prestige class ability. In fact, I really see the threat range increase as part of the raison d'etre of the whole class. So, in converting him to 3.5 my DM and I talked long and hard and decided that his Weapon Master increased threat range would stack with Improved Crit or Keen, but not both.

This seemed fair to me, and I don't even try to milk the whole Rapier/Falchion thing, LOL. I wield a longsword and usually carry a tower shield, so I am more like a Weapon Master Turtle.

Namaste,

CB :]
