Keep on the Shadowfell=Keep on the Borderlands?

Add extra stuff online.

When 40KRP introductory scenario was released the module had four pregen characters. Two males and two females. Another two pregen males were added as a pdf. Everybody is happy.

Make it a box. Add minis and tiles.

Having to pay $30 bucks is a bit much. The intro adventure is suppose to be a marketting tool. I'd sooner buy the PHB blindly for $35 then $30 for the marketting tool and then, if I like it, pay $35 more dollars for the PHB. Two months after its release, the ebay price of it is going to drop to half (or less) since you won't need the gimped rules and pregen characters anymore.
While I'm not sure if I'm willing to drop $30 on it, isn't a normal module about $25 anyway? (I honestly don't know -- I don't buy modules.) Given that this is the intro for their flagship product, I expect great production values and pretty solid design. Include some minis on top of it and it doesn't seem unreasonable, as long as the adventure's decent.

Keep on the Shadowfell
- $30
- Requires no additional books.
- Comes with pregenerated characters.
- Comes with quickstart/basic rules.
- Comes with 3 poster maps for miniatures.
- Levels 1-3
- Not sure of page count. One source said 96 pages, but also described it as multiple booklets, like a box set or something. Amazon lists it as a hardcover book.

Dragons of Winter
- $30
- Requires core books, Dragonlance Campaign Setting, and War of the Lance.
- Does not come with pregenerated characters.
- Does not come with quickstart/basic rules.
- Does not come with poster maps for miniatures.
- Levels 9-11
- 204 pages
- It's probably also good to have gone through Dragons of Autumn first.

Unless the page count is drastically smaller than Dragons of Winter (like 96 pages altogether), I don't see the problem. It's a good value as an introductory product that requires nothing but some dice.

Apples and oranges much? You just compared an intro product to the seond module in an "adventure path" set in a specific world.

quickstart rules are a simplified rules set allowing the players to use the pregen characters and get a feel of the game without having to buy the full book. I.E. Its won't have the complete feat list, just a short description of how to use the feats these pregens have. It won't have the full spell list, just those the wizard has. Combat will be simplified. They probably won't have an unarmed character so no grapple rules. And similar.

Where are you seeing $30? Amazon is advertising it for $19.77, and Wizards preview says $24.95

I think the jacked up price is because it comes with 6 maps. To my understanding (which could be wrong) these are 3 double sided battlemaps. If so, i would gladly pay $30 for that, an adventure, and a sneak peak at 4e.

He compared two modules. At the very worst, this is comparing a Granny Smith to a Red Delicious.
