Keep on the Shadowfell=Keep on the Borderlands?

Also, are you comparing a print product to downloadable ones?
Yes, I am. WotC could do the same, if they so choose. Instead they are charging $25 for a 64 page print product. Someone really needs to tell WotC that they're being over charged by the printer because if it costs them 50 cents per page to print it out in china, they're getting ripped off.

Here is something from the Toronto Star from November 19, 2007.

It's also a complicated story, one without an apparent or easy resolution. Publishers and booksellers complain they have been singled out for consumer and media scrutiny, largely because the discrepancy between the U.S. and Canadian prices is printed on the book. Other products don't advertise a comparative U.S. price.

Booksellers, who are on the front line, have borne the brunt of consumer displeasure. There are growing reports of store clerks being verbally abused by irate consumers.

"Most people don't understand the basic economics of it," LeFave says. "It would take a year to a year and a half to sell through all of the inventory in our stores."

I ask you to pay special attention to the last line. The fact that a book being published next year is going to be so much higher puts the truth to that lie. There is no inventory purchased at higher prices to sell through. No doubt, there are some factors which would make the Canadian price somewhat higher, but a 30% difference is ridiculous.

An question from the Calgary Herald back in June suggests that the question to ask is, " Who owns the distributions rights to D&D products in Canada? "

You've been corrected on the price twice; please don't continue to make the same mistake. You're certainly entitled to your opinion regarding the value of the product, but it'd be best for everyone if we can limit the spread of misinformation, and hopefully your points can stand without the use of it.

I'm looking forward to this. If WotC is listening, LIMIT THE CLASS CHOICES. It's just an intro product. The world will not end if, for the one month that it's the only 4E book, there's only fighters, clerics, wizards (or sorcerers) and rogues available. Anyone who doesn't like it can wait a month to play.

I imagine we'll see pre-gen characters. I think we'll see many class options. Then again if the SRD is out by then....

Either way I am totally picking this one up.

Well I don't know where dmccoy1693 is living. If he's in Canada then $30 isn't misinfo, as I'm expected to fork out $32 bucks for it at my FLGS (I'll be buying elsewhere).

Can you buy from Amazon US (or another US supplier) and have it shipped? (I use to get things from Amazon UK while in France).
At risk of getting hammered on customs duty and brokerage to the point the whole affair becomes more costly than having just paid the C$ price, yes.

I can see a small mark-up for Canada - say, $2 or so on a $25 thing like this, to cover any risk of the C$ dropping again - but $8 on $25 is a bit over the top.

From what I hear the C$ is expected to stabilize at around 95 cents US over the mid-to-long term (it's been *way* undervalued for years, now it's gone too high).

I fixed my error in my most recent post. I did intend to type 25 but accidently typed 30.

Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt, but I live in New Jersey.
