Ken Burns' The American Revolution

I haven't watched this, but let me leave this warning: no politics. If you can't talk about it without talking about politics, don't talk about it.

I'll have to check this out.

I don't know about everyone else, but I get all my history (and math, science, and grammar) from Schoolhouse Rock.

"And when the colonies complained, the King said: 'I don't care.'"

I'm guessing that's not really a thing in the rest of the world.

The American colonies were in an odd place in that they were established by royal charters rather than any act of Parliament. When petitioning Parliament proved to be ineffective, the colonists tried petitioning George directly. And they'd suck up to George, telling him they're loyal subjects and while they're no fans of Parliament they love him. George basically replied, "I rule through Parliament, so if you love me then just do what they tell you." While some folks hated the monarchy for years, Thomas Payne I'm looking at you, anti-royal sentiment really didn't take off on the colonies until shortly before the fighting.
It covers the change in Kings along with the fact that all but one of the taxes/fees were slowly rescinded in the lead up to war breaking out. Along with breaking the traditional story of the Boston Tea Party happening under the cover of darkness.

Anywhere non Muricans can watch? Think I've watch the Civil war and the west ones. At least some episodes.
